More Than Twenty Questions When Buying

Questions

When it's time to buy a home, you are going to have to answer questions to narrow down your search.

Are you looking for a condominium, Home Owner Association, adult community, a single-family home?

What style? A rancher, contemporary, townhouse, open floor plan, colonial, one with acreage, or a zero lot line?

Is it for a large family or to share with friends?

Are you looking for a historic home with style, a forever home, or just one loaded with charm?

Do you want a huge home, a tiny house, one with lots of storage, or a compact space that won't allow room for clutter?

Do you want some land to plant, to garden, or have a ball field?

Do you want neighbors, or do you want privacy?

Do you want a wooded lot or water access?

Do you want it in the city or suburbs?

Do you want it near schools, hospitals,  transportation, and shopping?

Does it have to be close to work?

How many will be living in the house?

What specific needs do you have? How many rooms? Do you need a home office?

Does it have to have a garage? What kind of heat? Public water? What is your budget? Are you willing to do some work, or do you want it move-in ready?

What price range? Do you need a mortgage, or are you paying cash?

That's more than twenty questions and even more that will need answers.

When are you ready to answer these questions to find that perfect home?

Morning Margaret.

The several that caught my attention was a larger home, water access and privacy.  All of them is what the boss is looking for.

Bob Crane This list took a couple of minutes to make. Doing it over there would more and different questions. When speaking to a prospective buyer, you need to know their needs!

How many agents take that phone call from the public to see a specific house and never qualify if it meets their needs? They arrive at the property and the buyer says...I don't like the neighborhood.

Good morning Margaret. Needs and wants are often questioned. Must haves and pipe dreams must be differentiated. Enjoy your day!

Hello Margaret - hopefully questions include thoughtful/careful listening, some connection and a dialog(not just a monologue) that brings everyone involved closer to the truth.  Now that's a dream come true and it's definitely a possibility.

Conversation makes our job easier if the buyer will just be truthful and answer the questions.

It's not only helpful for us as Realtors when clients can define their needs and wants, but it's also really helpful for the client to realize what's important and what they can live without. Great list of questions.

Michael Jacobs What a great comment. If you are not going to listen, why ask the questions.

Thanks, Mimi Foster  It's how we get to know what their needs are. Questions are a way to have the buyer think about and define their wants and must-haves.

That's a great list of questions for home buyers to ponder, Margaret.  And, if they are in your area, they need to call you when they have the answers.
