Throwback Thursday: Red Artistry Italian Style

Like many of you who read our posts, Ron and I love the color red. I am even thinking of buying a red desk chair as my chair is ready to retire.  Pictured above is a snail sculpture that greeted us at the entrance of the Hotel del Arte in Rome!

In Florence, the city of Art, there was an exhibit of red rafts on rhe Palazzo Strozzi by Chinese artist and activist, Ai Wei Wei, symbolizing the escape of people to freedom.

After dinner, walking back to our hotel in Florence, we spotted this WOW sculpture at the entrance of a hotel!

And window shopping is very enjoyable especially in Italy, where the window dressers practice their art form!

Hi Ron and Alexandra Seigel,

The color red is so powerful. Our eyes are moved toward this color whenever we see it.  Probably, why the red light or sign was chosen to show we need to stop.

Love the red snail. I too say go for the red chair. It suits you.  Mine would have to be blue.

Barbara Todaro I have eaten escargots (French for snails).  So, I looked up what Italians do and. I found this recipe, it this what you meant?  Babbaluci is Sicilian slang for snails.

yes.... and before cooking them, they would be washed in a bowl in the sink....they'd crawl out...and would end up on the counter....  LOL.... that's the dish.... I love it. 


I love escargo, too....my adult children always ordered them as an appetizer, when they were very young... their friends would order cheese sticks while the Todaro kids ate snails.... LOL

Hi Ron and Alexandra- What I love about red is how it draws the eyes to what you want to highlight! It gives a wonderful pop of color. And I have eaten escargot with a fresh loaf of bread and a glass of red wine. Yum. (sorry snails.)

Red is such a bold energizing color. I believe the things we like tell people a little bit about us. You all seem bold and full of energy just like the color, I do hope you find the perfect red desk chair.

My vehicle is what they called cinnamon, I bought the first one with that color last year.  I have seen very few since then.
