Westfield Extravaganzalorious 2019
Before you walk out your door to go shopping, put on your ugliest Christmas sweater. Then, head over to the South Ave Train Station. Starting at 4 pm, Chippey the Elf and local writer Kenneth Waddell meet with the public to share Chippey's humble beginnings. (Kenneth wrote the 2011 movie "An Elf's Story".) Organizers encourage families to enter the candy cane pull for a chance at some great prizes. Stop by the snowglobe for a family holiday photo. Decorate gingerbread cookies while sipping hot cocoa.
Then, at 5:15 pm, settle in for an outdoor screening of "An Elf's Story". For your comfort, bring a blanket and/or lawn chair from home. The movie lasts for half an hour. All of this comes free of charge, too.
Elfie Selfies
While scurrying about on Saturday, keep your camera ready and eyes peeled for that mischievous Elf on a Shelf. He keeps watch over shoppers in nearly two dozen local boutiques and restaurants in the downtown area. When you see him, snap an Elfie Selfie. Make sure you include yourself and your receipt from that day's purchase in the establishment you spot him in. Then, upload the photo to your Instagram and/or Facebook page. Tag it with #WestfieldElfieSelfie to ensure entry into that week's drawing. Post as many photos as you want for extra chances to win.
Westfield Area Y Men's Club Christmas Tree Lot
Finally, stop by the Westfield Area Y Men's Club's Christmas tree lot on Elm Street. Pick up a gorgeous Fraser fir, Balsam fir or Fralsam hybrid for your Westfield home. We also have wreaths and garlands to add that touch of nature to your holiday decorations this year. You might even run into me when you're there. If you do, say "hi".
