2019 Holiday Trees in Carlsbad

Classic and the Non-Traditional

Carlsbad Holiday Tree 2019 at the Village Faire

The holiday tree at the Carlsbad Village Faire is a classic, aat the front entrance to this popular shopping and dining destination and the site of numerous holiday events. The annual tree lighting was scheduled for December 8 but was canceled due to the weather (the predicted rains that day did not happen).

Old holiday tree along the beach in Carlsbad

There are a couple of non-traditional "Christmas Trees" along the coast road overlooking the ocean that get decorated every year. No doubt a number of residents are involved...perhaps some of the same people every year. In any case it's always fun to see these trees as they are always different. These are 2 different views of one tree perched above the ocean.

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS,

Great post! We also have a non-traditional juniper bush that is in the middle of the I-17 about ⅔ up from Phoenix to Sedona.  Rumor has it that it is the AZ-DPS (CHP) who decorate it every year.

Good morning, Jeff... while I am a "traditionalist," for the most part, the non-traditional trees are quite interesting and I can appreciate their unique beauty, as well.

I like that non-traditional tree and it is certainly something I would take a picture of too!

I like all the photos of the trees. Very charming.  It's such a fun time of the year.  I'm always a bit bummed when all the decor has to be put away for another year.

The residents of Carlsbad are definitely spreading holiday cheer with those oceanside decorated trees.  Love it.

Hi Sheri Sperry - MCNE®

Well I am traditional as far as our tree in the house but I enjoy the diversity of trees we see and have decorated small palm trees at a previous house here.

I enjoy seeing these trees along the beach, decorated or not. I have no idea how old they are but they have been there awhile...and actually look rather dead!

While I find the tree in the top photo very pleasing to the eye because of its traditional look, I can't help be drawn to the seaside windswept tree, Jeff.

And other than the human-made ornaments Grant Schneider it's Mother Nature's creation!

Hi Brian England

I have a number of them - they look a little different every year. No doubt there are other interesting decorations around town I have yet to see.

Hi Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD

I know what you mean - it's kind of an empty feeling, especially after seeing and enjoying everything for a few weeks. Our house inside always looks odd for a few days when undecorated!

Hi Chris Ann Cleland

I love that someone takes this on every year, too. And I often see people stopping to take photos. Hundreds of cars pass by these every day.

Hi Jeff. Your "coastal trees" look like our "shoe trees" that show up periodically around our town.

It's fun to see the diversity of decorating, isn't it Kathy Streib

I was out on the Coast Road the other day and found 2 more decorated trees along the beach - that makes 4 I have seen.
