Random Kindness

"Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward,

safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."

Princess Diana

Central Market in Southlake, TX gave out coupons for Free Tulips without any expectations for store purchases. It made an impact on me because it is the anniversary of the day before my daughter was born and nobody at that store knows, except me. As a consumer, it filled my heart with joy and happiness. I looked at the color pink as I placed my Tulips in a vase at home and was reminded of that pink and white crocheted blanket my mother made for her. My daughter was the greatest gift I ever received. Whether or not my mom had a premonition or had a spare one in blue and white, I will never know. However, what I do know is that when you receive an unexpected gift it makes a difference in someones life.

It's not everyday a store gives away flowers for free, especially tulips in December. Princess Diana was very kind and spread joy, despite what went on behind closed doors. She was anything but ordinary, just like tulips in December! Also, she spent the remainder of her days giving back to people in countries who never would have had a chance to see someone so authentic without trying to be famous. There are lessons to be learned when you practice Random Acts of Kindness. What you give, you never know how it will impact the recipient unless they tell you. All I could do, was smile and say thank you. May joy be with you!

Oh, I love that story, Patricia and what perfect timing for Central Market to offer the random gift of glorious pink tulips. And, your photo is beautiful too!

Rose Mary Justice and Debe Maxwell, CRS - Thank you! I always enjoy hearing from you. I just got off the phone wishing my daughter a happy birthday. Tulips are her favorite. She is spending the day in a quaint little village in the mountains. I could feel her happiness and joy come through the phone. Tulips are her absolute favorites too! Rose, "it really IS a blessing to be able to give!" I love your name! Debe - Receiving tulips in December and enjoying them today, and getting to talk to my daughter today is triumphant!

Good morning, Patricia... what beautiful flowers... then again, I love tulips and pink is my favorite color. This quote from Princess Diana is one of my favorites. A random act of kindness enhances the life of both the giver and the receiver.

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - What a wonderful and timely quote from Princess Diana (in more ways than one)! If I remember correctly, your daughter is in Switzerland and I often think of you because my daughter-in-law is from Lausanne. I know you wish you could be with her especially during this time of year. However, the magic of the season does seem to always embrace us.

Hello Patricia - unexpected gifts are particularly nice.  Not just to receive but give.  We have the opportunity to share kindness without notice.  Without acknowledgment.  And that's a gift too.

The tulips are beautiful and the phone call with your daughter must have filled your soul with joy. I know how it feels to connect with children who live far away. Yesterday, I found a surprise bouquet at the door - a thank you to me for helping someone. It was not necessary and so unexpected, but it felt wonderful. I"m sure the tulips gave you the same feeling.

What a beautiful story Patricia!  I was so surprised to see tulips in the grocery store the other day. So pretty!  I almost picked up some pink ones! Guess we're in the pink!

Patricia doing random acts of kindness should be something we strive to do year round.  As much as they are a blessing to the one who receives the random act of kindness, it is far more a blessing to the one who does it.
