Worries, "to do" lists, and facing the day as a kid in Naperville...

Good morning!!

When I woke this morning, the clock on my phone read 5:50 am…

I had hoped to sleep in a bit later, as my plans for the morning weren’t urgent…

Yes, I had written a long "to do" list the night before. The list had actually filled up a whole page in my journal…

However, those “to dos” were just a series of errands. Errands I wasn’t going to start before 6 in the morning…

So I lay there, contemplative. My thoughts went to my week, and this week I am facing a few issues. Adult sized issues…

These issues were created by my habits and behaviors from several months ago, behaviors and habits that had long since changed…

However, the consequences still need faced. And I will be facing them this week…

But my thoughts this morning weren’t dominated by those adult issues and the adult sized consequences that came along with them…

My thoughts were dominated by a school holiday party…

Morgie’s school holiday party, which is taking place on Friday of this week at her grade school in Oswego…

I really enjoy these parties…

I feel I make them fun for the kids, as I am an active participant. I play. I frolic. I run. I scream. I laugh…

And the kids usually do too. It is fun. Some of my fondest memories are from my girl’s grade school parties…

It is a chance to put away my “to do” list. Put away my worries. To be silly. To play with the kids as a kid…

Life should have more of these moments…

We should all find time every day to find the joy we felt as children…

To be silly. To play. To laugh. To enjoy the moment…

To put our adult worries aside, even if just for a short bit of time…

And to be a kid…

Ken

Hi Ken - it appears you know what "to do". Don't worry. Be happy.  Well, at least part of the time.

Hi Ken- I've always felt that the day I can't enjoy Disneyworld is the day I don't want to be around. There's a kid still inside me.

Hi Ken,
As we get older, it's important to keep in touch with the kid inside each of us, isn't it?
