Monday morning started out quite foggy. I wasn't concerned because that's exactly how my day started yesterday morning before the sun came out in Flower Mound blessing us with a beautiful Sunday.

Good morning Patricia,
It sounds like you had a delightful morning. Thank you for the mention of the Audobon article. I'm sure many people, like me, WANT to clean up their yards in the Fall but understanding it's better for the birds if we don't is a good thing.
Have a wonderful Christmas week!

Carol Williams - Good Morning!
It was an enjoyable and educational start of my day! I am very thankful you shared the information from the Audubon. Thank you, for sharing. It was very informative. This article makes a justifiable reason why "messy is better" for birds in nature. I hope people will consider making a donation to them and order their magazines. Plus, it's tax-deductible too:
Your donation will be securely processed. The National Audubon Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our federal tax ID number is 13-1624102.

The invitation to donate or subscribe to their magazine would be a great P.S. to add to your post, Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP
Carol Williams - GREAT IDEA! I just added the membership and donation information. Thanks, again!
Patricia it will be a few months before we see Blue Jays and Cardinals again. When they show up, I know warmer weather has arrived.

George Souto - One of the first things I noticed when I relocated from Chicago was how different winter is in the south. I made many wonderful discoveries, depending on the weather each year. For example, the day after my father passed away the day after Thanksgiving in the 1998 a white rose bloomed in my garden. I have had Crocus, Daffodils, and Tulips poke through the ground as early as January. My front lawn was last mowed two weeks ago. We get lots of birds all winter long, including the beautiful Carolina Wren.
Have yourself a Merry little Christmas, George. I hope you get to see the birds again for an early spring!

Hi Patricia... I can't say I've ever seen either a Blue Jay or a Cardinal anywhere near my home. You're so fortunate to see them up close and personal.

Nina Hollander - I just checked the Charlotte Observer. They are there and many other wonderful fine feathered friends. I take pleasure in nature and birds make me happy!

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP hi Patricia... I know they are there... they are just not ever around my houses! Maybe they know I've always got a cat or two keeping watch!
You have quite a variety of birds visiting you, Patricia. We don't seem to have as many birds as we once did. And, we never had Cardinals which are my favorites.

Myrl Jeffcoat - Isn't it interesting how different cities, states, and countries offer diversity in plants, animals, weather, landscape, and climate? If ever a Red Cardinal flys your way, you will undoubtedly know. The males are brilliant red; the females brown with a similar crest on the top of her head.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!
I think most of our birds have gone south. I do hear the calls of some crows.
I like your quote selection.
A manicured lawn might look nice, but messy
is better for birds and bugs.

Roy Kelley - That quote really makes one think and puts things into perspective, doesn't it?
Merry Christmas to you and Dolores. I wish you both peace, warmth, and happiness.
Hello Patricia: I am a bit envious of those who can identity different birds as well as those who know/understand so much about plants and trees. It's a challenge I have learned to accept while enjoying the scenery.

Michael Jacobs - You're never too old to learn. Most of my training occurred because I was a mother. I also worked for different school districts at their grade school as Teacher's Aid at the regular Elementary School, Head Start, and Special Education. I have a feeling you would be good at anything you set your mind to learning.
Thanks for making this one for me. This is a good example of how you can make blogs out of your detailed comments. Keep enjoying the Jays and the Cardinals Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP

Merry Christmas, Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland - That was excellent advice. Thank you, so much!!!
Bird watching is a wonderful thing. I have never done much of it, but I do enjoy when I see a great looking bird. Merry Christmas to you my dear friend!

Brian England - The longer I stayed outdoors the more I learned. Our brains are built in computers.
Merry Christmas to you too my dear friend!!!
Wow...any one of those birds visiting you would be a treat and you got all of them! Great story, Patricia.

Oh, I love that two of my favorites were chatting, Patricia (you and Margaret)!
Funny but, Ray always reminds me if I don't keep the feeders topped off, "They're going to start fussing at you if you don't keep them filled up!"
We had to buy Emma a bell for her collar because she has a history of chasing birds and we have a lot of them in our yard. Blue jays, cardinals, robins and chickadees are the most common. So far, so good!
Here's one in our little 'window feeder.' He seems to always show up while Ray is reading the paper in the mornings!

Patricia, now that the birds have you set straight, thanks for reminding us to be aware of their needs during the winter.
I love attracting the big bomber Blue Jays as they are mean and chase the woodpeckers away who can rip a perfect silver dollar size hole in our cedar trim in 30 seconds!
Wishing you a Blessed Christmas and a New Year where God blesses you beyond measure!

Bruce Walter - They say last is the best. I believe you just provided me with my final good wishes for Christmas 2019 and you'll never know how much your words touched me. It was the best wishes I received thus far. Thank you for warming my heart with kindness.
I'm sure glad you read my post and that it jogged your memory about the damage that can occur when woodpeckers start pecking those big holes. It happens so quickly. May you be spared with no holes in your "cedar trim."
Merry Christmas, Bruce! I pray you will receive God's choicest blessings and that 2020 will keep you safe, healthy, happy and with everything you need. Happy New 2020!

Even with lots of snow on the ground, we have a lot of blue jays, chickadees, nut hatches, and woodpeckers of all kinds. I keep the feeder full :)
