Would I buy this again?

By

I often say that we can talk ourselves into keeping almost anything.

Here are some (hopefully) helpful questions to ask yourself, just in case you have time to declutter this week:

  • Is this something I currently use?
  • Would I buy this again? (MY FAVORITE QUESTION OF ALL)
  • Do I absolutely love it?
  • Is this worthy of the space it will occupy?
  • Will I be able to find it if I need it?
  • Could I get another one if I needed it?
  • Does this help me to reach my goal of reducing the volume?

Happy Decluttering! And challenge yourself to stay away from the "After Christmas" Sales

Good morning Cindy. Excellent question. I would have to say often the answer is no but shelving does help.

Thanks, Sheila Anderson - shelving helps as long as it's strong enough to handle your stuff....always good to have the most important/most frequently used items in the easiest to reach places on the shelves.

Great questions, Cindy. Those are the ones I ask myself everytime I clean a closet or a cabinet. Decluttering my office for the new year is my primary task for today and tomorrow.

Hello Cindy - asking the tough questions is important.  When it comes to "stuff" and in real life.

We got rid of a lot of stuff when we moved out of our last home. Our stuff was in storage for 4 months and we just had it delivered this week. We realized we still have a lot of decluttering to do. We don't need all the stuff we have.

Oh my, Kat Palmiotti - if it was just delivered this week, then you've got lots of decisions to make. Hope you can part with the things that are no longer useful....GOOD LUCK!

I have a closet calling my name. It is home to many things, and  I suspect much of it will be tossed. Can't wait to free up the space. It's cathertic and energizing. Make room for the new - or better yet, leave space to breathe.

My favorite question is, "Is this worthy of the space it will occupy?" That's the real test in my house especially when square footage is at a premium.

Oh yes, Jill Sackler - when space is limited, every single item has to pass the 'is it useful' test!

Cindy, I reposted this in hopes that more people will see it. I have been trying so hard become a minimalist, and this is without question the most to the point straight forward thing I have seen. Thank you SOOOO MUCH,

I appreciate your response @TomBailey! Becoming a minimalist is a process and if these questions spoke to you, that is a very good sign!! Best of luck!
