Carlsbad Offers Free Christmas Tree Recycling
Through January 11, 2020
Yes, Christmas just happened but you may already be planning how to get rid of your Christmas tree, if you have one.
As they have done in the past, the City of Carlsbad offers free, curbside pickup for Carlsbad residents, starting December 26th and through January 10th.
Another option is to use the convenient drop-off bin locations for Christmas trees until Saturday, January 11th (see below).
If you want to have curbside pickup on your regular trash pick-up day trees are to be placed at the end of your driveway next to your green waste bin. NOTE: If your tree is taller than 6 feet it should be cut in half. Residents should place the tree in the Green Waste recycling bin for pick-up.
NOTE: Flocked trees cannot be recycled but must be picked up as regular trash (place in the trash bin)
It’s important to remove all decorations (some are easy to miss), lights, and tree stands before recycling your tree. Carlsbad will recycle the trees by converting them into mulch for use in San Diego County.
Here are the 5 drop-off locations for residents to use for their tree recycling:
Calavera Hills Community Park - 2997 Glasgow Drive
Stagecoach Community Park - 3420 Camino de los Coches
Poinsettia Community Park - 6600 Hidden Valley Road
Carlsbad Fire Station 1 - 1275 Carlsbad Village Drive
Waste Management – 5960 El Camino Real
If there are questions please contact Waste Management at (760) 929-9400, or visit the Waste Management website. You’ll find plenty of information about other services Waste Management provides including the 2 buy-back recycling centers, one in central Carlsbad off El Camino Real and the other in Oceanside.
