Recycling Live Christmas Trees In Charlotte-Mecklenburg

Recycle your live Christmas trees for free beginning Monday, December 30th through, Thursday Jauary 23rd if you live within Charlotte city limites. Recycled trees are considered organic and will be turned into useful mulch for sale. But keep in mind that the tree is only organic if it’s stripped down to its original form, which means removing all the lights, ornaments and tinsel.  Just place your tree by the curb on your regular yard waste collection day for pickup.  If you're not sure of your regular yard waste collection day, check out the GeoPortal and enter your address, then click the "Services" tab.

This is good information for the Charlotte residents Nina Hollander.

In our town, we place the tree curbside and it gets picked up OR we can go to the next town over and contribute the tree to the Christmas Tree Bonfire in January

Hi Nina:

Great information for those with Christmas Trees. It's wonderful to see so many program around to take care of them so they are not just piled in the landfill.

Jeff

Jeff Dowler, CRS hi Jeff... great strides have been made in recent years in this regard. And artificial trees can always also be donated to a charity.

Morning Nina.

There are several drop off areas in my neck of the woods.  The Army Corp of Engineers take them to our local lakes to be used as, shelters for the fish.

Good Morning Nina,

Excellent public service to the Charlotte residents. I would not be surprised if someone missed the memo on disposing the tree sans of Christmas lights and ornaments.

Grant Schneider hi Grant.. what annoys me is when people dump their trees by the curb without first checking when they will be picked up... and then they lie there for days on end. I already saw trees by curbs last week, but there's no pick up until today.
