My daily affirmation--updated in 2018 and 2019
Many should practice using the daily affirmations suggested by Lottie Kendall...

I am happy
I am healthy
I am kind
For many years I have said and felt that affirmation that I say to myself every day. Some of you might remember it (I was blown away when Roy Kelley repeated it to me a year or so after I had first written about it.)
At some point during 2018 I realized something was missing. After a few weeks it hit me: I needed to add:
I am productive
The word productive is broad enough to cover days when I'm not "working," that is, not meeting with clients, or calling them, or straightening out files. Productive can be writing up that grocery list and walking to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's to purchase ingredients for dinner. Productive can be walking down to my garden plot at Fort Mason Community Gardens to do some weeding, pick lemons and herbs and cut some flowers for the house.
Productive is fitting even when I'm on vacation. It can mean not twiddling my thumbs and spending too much time on social media and then rushing to get ready for the day's activities or getting to bed later than I had intended.
About a month ago, I felt the need to add one additional clause to my daily affirmation:
I am grateful
For each day, for the sunshine, the rain, the muddy trails, the health to enjoy it all. When I'm volunteering serving breakfast at Glide to my neighbors in the Tenderloin. For the family and friends that enrich life. For my business that keeps moving right along. No more explanation needed.
Do you have an affirmation that centers you, energizes you, and lifts your spirits?
