During the holidays, a cold front came in from California. It started late on Christmas Day and it kept trying to snow. Little flakes came down sporadically all day long. We definitely did not have a "White Christmas". But the storm eventually gave us a dusting of snow to appreciate the beauty of our red rocks in Sedona Arizona, especially during the holidays.
Hi Sheri - while it may be a bit cooler than we expect year-round, this time of year has once again brought some dusting of snow on the San Gabriels. Those snow-capped mountains and beautiful blue skies are ideal Rose Parade/Rose Bowl weather making postcard-worthy photos. Hopefully, the rain will stay away on January 1. Hopefully.

HI Roy Kelley - I think it is warmer in the east than out here in the west. Sedona only got up to 36º yesterday.

Hi Kathy Streib - It is something to remember. It only happened a couple of times in Southern California, but the first time for me was Christmas Day 1988. We had just moved to the foothills on Halloween and it started to snow. That was a real thrill. Nothing stuck on the ground though.

I listened to Larry Fitzgerald of the Cardinals talk about his Christmases in Minnesota and when he got a bike, it would stay in the basement until April or May! I never thought about the weather that way. Most of the time we have warm weather and cold weather does not last. Happy New Year.
Hi Nina Hollander - When I moved to Sedona, I was worried about the heat, monsoon and the snow. Fortunately, we get polite snow so it is very easy to live with and it is absolutely beautiful. Our dry winter weather is different than other parts of the country.

Hi Brian England - You should have seen all the people hiking in Sedona over the weekend. Cold weather in Arizona is not that bad, we just have to use light layers and keep the head and hands warm.

Sheri and Rick, you were lucky to get the White Christmas, and this storm hit us Saturday and got 4-5 inches. Has been COLD, so it hasn't melted. Happy New Year!
