A bag of goodies in 2020...

2020 YEA! I've been dreaming of 2020 and have my site on things that will happen this year and it's exciting. In fact I'm smiling right now thinking about it all!  Thanks to Endre Barath, Jr. for suggesting and hosting the January contest with exactly what I've been thinking about.....What changes did you make last year or the year before that worked?

Notice that he's asking for what actually works for each of us! I know exactly what works and has worked for me and am happy to share it.  It may sound a big odd to some and that's fine, it works for me and that's what really counts.

I see life and business as one in the same and have for many years. How I show up in life is how I show up in business. Happy. It's that simple for me.  I was quite fortunate to have a very wise mentor years ago show me that being happy IS the point of life that creates true success. That's it. I remember thinking way back when, that guy is off his rocker, surely it's way more complicated than that?  But, he was so damn funny!  He drew me in to his thoughts with laughter, constant laughter and smiles.

One thing he said to the group was 'Lighten Up You Worthless Slugs", as he was smiling at us of course! We all took ourselves so damn seriously back then. That was about to change for most of the group. The funny part is that over the past 35 years, every once in awhile one of my friends (or myself) who 'gets' the happy concept is all bunched up in 'seriousness'.  What do we say to each other.....you got it, Lighten Up You Worthless Slug"! And like magic....things start shifting! I know it's sounds so ridiculous but for some reason it cracks us up - due to that dear sweet man from those years ago.

2020 has been a long LONG time coming for me over 2019!  Typically I start my day and business with a long early morning hike. It refreshes my mind and spirit and it's very inspiring in all ways. I love being in nature hearing the birds and seeing all the little animals along the path. By the time I'm back in the office I'm totally calm and at peace and that's when my business flows easily and simply to me.

This past year was an off year for me physically, it was tough to walk or sit in my office. It began in January and kind of went on for months and months. I kept my spirits up and kept looking for a solution.  But...I wondered how I'd maintain my happy spirit and business with this foot challenge.  And trust me, it was a challenge to even consider that idea!

That's when one of my 'know it all friends' says to me - Lighten Up You Worthless Slug! BINGO. I knew I'd find a solution and then.... finally before Thanksgiving it was time for surgery and it all flowed easily to me this time. Things went perfectly and my doctors and nurses were so kind and encouraging! I was so grateful for that as I had had an opposite experience previously. I'm almost to the 6 week post surgery point and hoping to be back out hiking in another few weeks. Yea!  It will take some time to get back up to speed but I'm patient, and just so happy knowing I'll be outside in nature again very soon. I might be the slowest poke on the trail but hey, I'll be out there! 

So you know what that means.....life and business will once again flow easily to me in 2020.
