There are always adventures in Quincy Park. Ron and Quincy had spotted an elusive cat that would appear and disappear on their walks. This cat was so elusive that Ron named her, Phantom.
Yesterday, on their afternoon walk, Ron and Quincy spotted Phantom by the big tree under the bottle brush bushes. Before tails could get fat or hisses begin, Ron sat down across from her with Quincy. They sat and communed with each other and they all left with happy thoughts of meeting new friends.
At breakfast Saturday, the foursome across from us asked us if we knew when Ronald Reagan's ranch was. All I knew what that one of our clients sold it that ranch in Santa Ynez. We were able to tell them that Regan was part of the annual Vaqueros ride in Santa Barbara, and pointed the carving of RV in the stone fireplace.
One of the couples was visiting from St.Petersburg.. And the other couple were American lived in Orange County and were guiding them on a visit to Northern California via Hearst Castle...etc. They had met in Russia and became fast friends way back in the late 60's and 70's. Since then, they have visited each other often.
The foursome behind them piped in and the older gentleman said, I am Russian (in Russian)....his daughter said, he is from the wrong side, "He escaped the pogroms!" So here we were all talking to each other and sharing stories from three distinctly different backgrounds.
We exchanged stories and laughter and contact information...and an invitation to St. Petersburg! As we left, Ron exclaimed, we are going to refer to this room as the "Russian Room from now on!"
And this experience became for us, Rumi's field :
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing. and rightdoing there is a field. I'll meet you there.

"There is a world of difference between truth and facts. Facts can obscure the truth"
