YouTube Thursdays - It’s a Brand New Year
We’ve been researching video marketing trends for Realtors in 2020. Several articles suggest video marketing is a big waste of time for real estate. Generally speaking, the way most agents utilize video, we agree.
The videos that do work are not about us. Perhaps, not even about real estate. They are evergreen videos that brand us as the local expert. They are also videos that showcase us as interesting human beings with similar interests to our target demographics.
Community Videos First
The basic idea is to promote your community first - not you. People choose a hometown before they choose a home. Naturally, your personal values are going to be reflected in the videos you choose to produce. For example, if you’re an outdoor lover, videos about parks, trails, and nearby hiking will be a natural fit. And, these videos are likely going to resonate with like-minded viewers.
The Proof is in the Pudding
My son and daughter-in-law, who currently live in the Bay area, were recently online searching for more information about the lifestyle in Camas, Washington. They were watching a video about our charming downtown and realized it was produced by, yours truly (Debb). Apparently, my son said, “That’s mom’s voice!”
We know others who are interested in relocating to Camas find our videos too. Especially videos about the area, not real estate per se. Our community-related videos get the highest views. Our most-watched videos, with thousands of views on YouTube alone, are about area parks, trails, hikes, and tours of downtown areas.
Consider what you would want to know prior to moving to a new area? Keep in mind, most of us use Google, or another search engine, to find data. Try to use video titles (and tags) people will likely be using as they search for information. “Top-rated school districts in Clark County, Washington,” for example.
We’ll be fine-tuning the process on YouTube Thursdays in the coming weeks as we work on our own video marketing for 2020. You’re invited to join us.
YouTuber of the Week
This week we highlight Active Rain member, Laura Filip. She did a nice job with this video about a homestead exemption scam that could impact folks in her market. We particularly like the simultaneous split screen with her live on-screen appearance, the various documents, and information, plus her contact information. Be sure to subscribe to her YouTube channel - TLF Properties in Sherman, Texas.
Much like Anita Clark 's Facebook Fridays, we encourage you to subscribe to each other's YouTube Channels - and take a minute to "like" or leave a comment. You can also add your own YouTube Channel in the comments below, and ask for subscribers. Be sure to subscribe back though - it's quid pro quo!
