Thankful Thursday...Supporting Law Enforcement Appreciation Day

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day takes on special meaning for me and for my family because we have several members who are or have been in law enforcement. My brother retired from the Houston Police Department a few years ago and I have others

in our family who are currently serving.

As a family member, I can tell you that when you have someone in the family who is a member of the force, you jump if the phone rings in the middle of the night or when you hear of a police shooting.

These men and women and canines deserve our support and our thanks.

Total K9 Line of Duty Deaths: 28 for 2019

When you see a Law Enforcement Officer tell them “Hello” and “Thank you.”

Send a note to your local station telling them how much you appreciate their service.

If you have young children in your life, help them see that law enforcement officers are there to help them.

law enforcement day

(My brother and little cousin, Ben, upon his Police Academy graduation. )

Last year, our area lost Deputy Sheriff Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal, who had given 10 years of service to his community. His loss hit the community hard because he cared so very much for the people in it.

Being in law enforcement isn’t just about catching speeders or those who run stop signs...it’s being willing to put your life in harm’s way for others.

What greater calling is that?

Very sweet photo!  And NO DOUBT we should be appreciative of our law enforcement people who put their lives on the line to keep the peace and make our daily routines safe, our houses secure, our businesses open and contribute to a free society that can only function best by observing the laws that govern the common good.

Roy Kelley we have to!!!

Wayne Martin I know how hard it is in Chicago for the officers! Yes, saying "hi" is the least we can do.

Barbara Todaro I was thinking of you and your family when I was writing this. I know that you lost your son-in-law and that is such a hard thing to handle.

Michael Jacobs I totally agree. We have to teach our children just as we were taught.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty every profession has a rotten apple but for the most part, they're following the law.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD you're right. Yes there are a few bad apples but many do their job with little reward. My brother hated domestic calls because you had no idea what you were walking into.

Will Hamm the K-9 unit shouldn't be overlooked!!!

Grant Schneider and unfortunately the way things are now in some areas, they become targets.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® Thank you. You never know what's going on in the minds of people and you can't trust that they will have the same respect for a law enforcement officer that you and I would.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel Don't get me started about anyone killing a dog!

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat I'm very proud of them!

George Souto I agree. We also owe them the best protective equipment that money can buy.

Anna Banana Kruchten Broker/Owner, CRB, CRS what a worthwhile organization!!! I know that most officers have to work a lot of extra jobs to supplement their income. And it's hard for the spouses to work if they have young children at home because of the odd hours.

John Henry, Florida Architect look...it's you!!!! Good to see you and yes, we should show more appreciation for our law enforcement officers. They put themselves in harm's way to protect us and our homes and businesses.

Morning Kathy.

As a former LE officer, thank you.  If I had to do it all over again, I believe I would be a firefighter

It's shameful the way they are portrayed and treated these days. They're not all perfect, but no one should forget that they might need them someday. And they will come. I am deeply thankful for our police, firemen, and veterans.

It pains me to see the loss of respect for those who serve in authority positions. It stems from the top levels of our U.S. representatives, to our military and local police authorities. They RUN to trouble to protect us and literally give their lives for us.

Hi Kathy: Great acknowledgment of those who do the hard stuff in our lives! My brother is a retired policeman from Flint Michigan and I know exactly what you mean when you hear the phone ring in the middle of the night or when you see or hear a report of a shooting. it is terrifying to have to live with that. That's why we need to keep a positive thought about ALL who are out there protecting us and our families.
