Real Estate Agent with TEAMCONNECT REALTY - (407) 394-9766

Hi Everyone!  Hoping we all survived the holidays and collected all the
cheer, happiness, love and energy to propel us into a prosperous and
happy, healthy new year.

Two days before Thanksgiving I was attacked by a sciatic inflammation
that beat me up.  Throughout my life I have had a few sciatic attacks,
but this one outdid itself.  It tried to spoil my Thanksgiving and my
Christmas, however I had lots of medical help and a terrific Physical
Therapist.  I was told that in sciatica, there is the strongest nerve in the
body and it is being pinched.  I was also told that the nerve is the largest
nerve in the body - two fingers thick and travels from the small of the
back and down your leg to your foot.

Yup!  It was excruciating pain and ran from my back to the bottom of
my foot.  Trying to walk was impossible.  I heard from my doctor that
she got this when six months pregnant and in 'excruciating' pain.  My
physical therapist told me she crawled,  A doctor and a member of our
family told me he also crawled with an inflamed sciatic nerve.  Well,
I did not crawl but I managed with a cane and every time I put down
my right foot, I had a special word.  No not that one, silly, but a zillion
of this word:  OUCH!!

I am feeling much better today...my physical therapist is an Angel and
all the daily exercises. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say the pain is a 1
or 2... where it once was a 'million.'  Guess I am getting better and my
mood has been very positive and happy for a few days now.  I am
very grateful.

In the throes of the above painful situation I took on a sort of difficult
plan.  I joined 5 members of my Family to go on the PALEO WHOLE
30 --  lifestyle healthy eating.  Today I am on Day 8 and hopefully getting
past the temptations and carb and sugar cravings.  WOW! Who knew
this was difficult and you had to fight through certain days in the

I have been away from ActiveRain recently because of the above and
today I continue to fight for my dreams and goals.  I hope you are
healthy, happy, and well and that the year '2020' will be wonderful for you.

Good morning, Jane Chaulklin-Schott ...I'm so sorry to hear about that ailment.... but I'm very happy to read that you're on a HEALTHY EATING PATH.... that's the best medication you could every imagine having.... good carb only....and those are from veggies....be careful with the amount of fruit you eat...it has a high sugar content (carbs).... one apple a day is what I eat... just ONE....a small one!!!

I haven't eaten grain of any kind in 7 years.... if you must have a sandwich make it with a leaf of romaine lettuce.... or make cloud bread.... I've posted the recipe here in the past...

COUNT CALORIES.... I DO!!!  I limit mine to 850/ day.... I don't want any body fat under my skin...

you should walk as you begin to lose weight... you have to keep moving...

did I mention:  COUNT CALORIES???

wishing you great success with your healthy way of living....

I like intermittent fasting.... that's how I eat.... I give myself a window of 4 hours when I want to lose a few pounds (4 or 5)... they come off but slowly....  ideally, my window is 6 hours.... noon to 6....NOTHING AFTER 6 EXCEPT WATER, TEA OR COFFEE....

healthy living, in general, takes discipline.... eating and workouts are disciplined activities....

Oh, good on you for getting on the nutrition train!
I do pretty much what Barbara Todaro does, I'm not as austere and don't work out anywhere near as much. But eating clean IS the best medication and especially if you are battling inflammation which triggers so much trouble!

But low/no grains, low/no sugar, very low carbs and count calories, staying under 800/day. I also very much limit dairy - my 'crack' back in the day was red wine and sharp cheese . . . turns out I'm allergic to both! NO yogurt, cheese except Parmesan on occasion.

Green apple for snacks as well . . . now having said all that, I WILL go off the wagon with Bloody Marias, sushi that does have sugar and rice in it . . . but I go right back to lean meats, seafood, lots of vegies, lemon and oil dressing and REAL cream and butter!
