Monday Morning Quarterbacking

Of Sorts

On A Tuesday

Monday Morning Quarterbacking Of Sorts On A Tuesday I see that that Valley Of The Sun fun-meister and ActiveRain Ambassador Anna Banana Kruchten Broker/Owner, CRB, CRS has a new scheme of sorts for fun and frivolity on this platform.   It's time for football playoffs and that ultimate party Super Bowl LIV(do you think there is any relationship at all to Studio 54?).  So I guess there's some pigskin pondering to do...

It seems Anna has once again pulled out her whoopee cushion and bag of tricks to entice members into her own creative huddle where laughter and frolic will reign.  Maybe some tasty treats too.  I mean what's football without food?

Admittedly, I am not now nor have I ever claimed to be a jock.  Fortunately circumstances thankfully provided a younger brother(I guess I should thank our parents for their involvement too) and a brother-in-law(thanks to my sister) who fulfilled that missing link for sports.

Clumsy.  Awkward. Uncoordinated.  And that's me now.  Imagine what life might have been like as a younger me?  Yikes.  I am sure there is a photograph somewhere in the archives of a younger Michael with a football but it seems to be mysteriously missing.

As a child I tried to fit in as best as possible but I was never involved or interested in such things although I do remember reading the sports section of the newspaper.  Mind you it wasn't necessarily to see the scores or read about any nuances of a particular game but to see the attendance at various stadiums around the country.  Weird, I know.  What can I say?  It helped me learned about North America geography, I guess.

Over the years, not much changed for me and sports(or football in particular).  I would attempt to keep current but likely failed miserably when it came to knowing/understanding details. Why fake it?  Years later, I even wrote about a scandal with the New England Patriots a few years back on ActiveRain when there was some type of controversy over the handling of balls.  You can revisit that post here and perhaps have a laugh.  Delated Balls, Big Egos and Real Estate from January 23, 2015.   Talk about much ado about nothing, right?  I digress.

This is a submission of sorts for the Football Fun Contest.  Maybe it's a strike-out rather than a home run. Oops. Wrong sport.  I warned you...

You always make me smile. I'm picturing that adorable boy with a football and so wish there was a photo.

I have NEVER been athletic, in any way or form. Gym class was a nightmare for me and I skipped it whenever I could. I did LOVE hockey...the Boston Bruins games were not to be missed. Football was not a game I ever, not even now, understood. I was on the Pep Squad for the high school team, but even then didn't have a clue what was happening on the field.

Reading your post was more fun than watching the games... !!!

I did play high school basketball, football, and baseball.

I kinda remember having a lot of fun with badminton and croquet too!!

And I did force myself to run, during and after college, to keep in shape.

But I can't classify myself as a jock either.... ha

Michael, I am not a jock - I am a writer and a reader...which leads me to my next comment. You may want to check in on Endre Barath - his latest post mentions Vromans in your 'hood of Pasadena!

Gwen Banta - there's much to enjoy about Pasadena.  That's for sure.

Endre Barath, Jr. - we are quite fortunate to be in Southern California with its diversity of many things on full display in many communities in the area.  Things to see.  To do and experience.

Hi Michael,

I will never understand football as I am averse to violent sports.

Anyway, enjoyed reading your blog about it though. :)

I could not see you failing miserably, btw.
