It's no secret, I have a passion for rescuing and restoring old furniture. If I see something on the side of the road 9 times out of 10 I'm stopping and taking it home with me. Most often the furniture is ugly but in great shape. However, that's so easy to fix. All I need is my favorite paintbrush and a little or a lot of paint. There are other times when the piece is on its last leg and that's when you have to get creative.
Not too long ago, I came across an old beat-up side table that I just had to save. To be honest, It was pretty wonky, but I saw the potential in it. I brought it home with me and stored it in my garage until I came up with a plan for it.
I ended up forgetting all about the table until one day while I was shopping at Kirkland's (one of my favorite home decor stores). I came across an oversized wall clock and fell in love. I looked at the price and the love was instantly over. As I was walking away from the clock it hit me, use the top of the side table to make a DIY version of the giant clock. And as soon as I got home I started planning my project for the sad side table that was left in the trash.
I guess the point of this story is that everything deserves a second chance. We are so quick to toss out the old to make room for something new. Sometimes all it takes is a little DIY and love to give that old piece of furniture a new life.
