I mailed my New Year's cards to some of my past clients on Tuesday. I know I was a little late but they were handwritten note cards to over 200 past clients - wishing them a happy new year filled with happiness, prosperity and peace and suggesting that we get a cup of coffee. My new year's resolution this year - as every year - is to do a better job of staying in touch with my past clients and sphere - partly to generate more business and partly because these are people that I really like - and it is a lot more fun to talk to them than to be chasing strangers hoping for business.
You probably know that Keller Williams encourages agents to reach out to their database 36 times a year through personal meetings, emails, handwritten notes or cards, birthday cards, printed mailings and client events. Besides staying in touch with the note cards, marketing pieces, emails and such, I am following a Keller Williams coaching program called the Never Ending Referrals which suggests dividing your entire database and then calling 2 letters of the alphabet each week for 13 weeks and then starting the whole process over again - 4 times a year.
I have been calling my database - so far I have called people with last names starting with A, W, B and E. I am scheduling coffees and lunches - and enjoying the reconnections. Then, the cards arrived today - and I already have had an email from one client suggesting coffee - at 7:30 in the morning! and another suggesting wine in the evening. This is awesome! It is such a nice way to start the new year! I hope it brings me the same happiness, prosperity and peace that I wished my clients.
