Legal or Illegal... What Do You Think?

By
Real Estate Agent with Counts Real Estate Group, Inc. BK3128229

I received an interesting email the other day questioning whether various situations were legal or illegal.

I'm going to present the questions here and Monday, I'll post the answers.

DISCLAIMER:I am neither a lawyer, judge or associated with any law enforcement agency. I present them here simply for your entertainment

So, what do think, are the following legal or illegal?

1. Backyard burials
Can you bury your loved ones in your own backyard? Legal or illegal?

2. Driving naked

If you want to get behind the wheel of your car buck naked, that’s your prerogative. Or is it? Legal or illegal?

3. Recording a conversation

Can you legally record a conversation with someone who has no idea you’re recording the conversation? Legal or illegal?

4. Having a monkey for a pet

Ross had one on Friends, so can you keep a monkey as a pet? Legal or illegal?

5. Owning other exotic animals

While we're dicussing animals... Do you think you can’t have a Bear for a pet, how about a Lion or a Cheetah? Legal or illegal?

6. Spanking in school

Any kind of physical force used as a means of discipline (slapping, spanking, paddling, etc.) is known legally as “corporal punishment.” Think it's legal or illegal?

7.  Spanking at home

While we're on this topic, what about spanking at home? Legal or illegal?

8. Sleeping in your car

What do think, legal or illegal? Hmm?

9. Driving while drowsy

One-third of all motor vehicle accidents are caused by over-tired drivers. So, legal or illegal?

10.  Performing surgery without having slept

Not to scare the bejeebies out of you, but legal or illegal?

So there you have it, 10 legal or illegal questions I've chosen for your entertainment.

Feel free to comment and don't forget to post the number next to your answer.

Check back on Monday and see how many you got correct...

Wow, Jennifer -- I'll be sure to check back on Monday for your answers. I suspect other states might have different rules, but it will be interesting to know how Florida views these situations.

Some of those questions are more scary than entertaining. The interesting one is about recording conversations which happens a lot.

Jennifer ~ Here is how we roll in Northern Virginia with a few guesses too.

1 - Illegal in Alexandria City

2 - Don't know, but it probably should be

3 - Legal in Virginia as long as 1 party to the conversation knows it is being recorded

4 - I will say legal

5 - I will say illegal without a permit... don't want a big carnivore just roaming the neighborhood

6 - Probably illegal... though it would probably help in a few situations

7 - Legal

8 - Illegal unless it is in your driveway I believe

9 - I think this one will get you a ticket, so I will say illegal

10 - Should be illegal, but probably isn't
