Thoughts How the New Decade Will Influence Home Design

Forbes.com recently interviewed interior and furniture designers what they expect to emerge in home design in this new decade.  Off-trend may be the new trend in this decade creating bigger and bolder statements versus the all-white or neutral interiors.  Lighting fixtures will be used to make a bold statement for lighting a room.  These light fixtures will not necessarily require additional wiring.  Wall sconces with optional wire guard will be more available and can create desired accents without investing in hardwiring.  Neutral color schemes will be replaced by warmer and more saturated hues.  This includes tiles, cabinetry, and walls will experience more color changes.  In addition, probably will see layered patterns in tabletops and textile designs.  There will be more mixing of colors tying together various patterns for walls, upholstered furniture, and bedding.  Now we are seeing high-contrast designs appearing which gives a room a crisp take on neutrals.  These may be surrounded with black and white trims which are fresh and timeless borders.  Another idea is to add wallpaper to the ceiling to add greater design.
