As a fan of the National Football League, and in particular the NY Giants (I know, they are really a NJ team), this comes as a bittersweet post on the announcement of Michael Strahan's retirement. You see, Michael has been a fixture of the Giants defense for 15 years now - practically unheard of in the NFL, particularly at a position that is so physically demanding - defensive end.
But the day has come and Michael will walk away from the job he loves - professional football player - for (in my humble opinion - hey it's my blog!) the greatest franchise in the NFL - The NY Giants. He leaves not as a broken down shell of a player, but rather he leaves at the top of his game. And he leaves the game as a World Champion Super Bowl winner. How great is that?

What's next for Mr. Strahan (a former Montclair NJ resident by the way) is anybody's guess. It could be a coaching gig with the Giants (they would never let the face of their franchise for 15 years go to another team) or perhaps a position in the front office. My guess would be a job in the media. He's certainly got the personality for it - plus he's got the trademark gap toothed smile that gets him instantly recognized.

Whatever is in store for Michael Strahan's future, I wish him nothing but the best. And this Giants fan would like to thank him for 15 years of wonderful memories. So long #92, you'll be missed!
