Awesome Day 6 - Guilty Pleasure

Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Capital Properties DC AB15253

I had a great open house this afternoon with lots of visitors - several of whom expressed interest in the house. I am hopeful that this house will not stay on the market for long.   The only flies in the proverbial ointment were that I didn't have time to eat lunch before my open house and the heat in my open house - empty of all furniture - didn't work.

Fortunately I had crackers in the back of my car - for just those occasions when there is no time to actually eat.  Unfortunately, I didn't have a space heater in the back of my car - and I would have traded those crackers for a space heater or some understanding of what was wrong with the furnace! BRRR.

I turned on the oven and once it was heated, I kept opening the door to warm my hands whenever there was no one in the house but me!

Since there was no furniture in the house, it didn't matter that I had to stand in front of the oven in the kitchen! I didn't have anywhere else to sit!

Happily, there was a pretty constant stream of visitors so I didn't focus on how cold I was or how hungry.  Actually, it was pretty comical and I was in no danger of permanent frost bite or hunger pains!

Once it was four o'clock, I was out of there and joyfully on my way home.

Once I was in the car, and the heat was glating, I started thinking about how hungry I was.  Then I remembered that Duck Donuts was on the way home.  Duck Donuts started in North Carolina - I assume on the outer banks in Duck, NC.  The thing that makes Duck Donuts so special is that you design and order your donut -which is only cooked once it is ordered - and then topped with your specific choices.  I had a warm freshly cooked cake donut with maple frosting and bacon sprinkles.  After all - I was cold - and - hungry.  That donut took the place of the breakfast I didn't really get and the lunch I had skipped.  It was warm - hot even.  It was delicious.

When you think about your favorite food, what is your favorite? Mine is definitely donuts.  I am a fan of dense donuts like Dunkin Donuts rather than Krispy Kreme - and I love the warm freshly cooked Duck Donuts - made to order and every bite delicious!

Morning Lise.

Lately, I can't get my fill of hamburgers.  Also, I am waiting on our farmer's markets to open so I can get fresh tomatoes.  Otherwise, I really don't have a favorite

Hi Lise - it's been some time since I have eaten/enjoyed a donut but I do understand guilty pleasures.

Endre Barath, Jr. I have heard of your place in LA. I confess that I like donuts. We tried a place in Chicago the morning after I moved my daughter into her new building that was “famous” and lots of fun

Favorite food? It would have to something/anything with chocolate... unless it's a perfect almond croissant.

I don't have a favorite food, favorite color, etc. I know that's unusual but I just like everything - it's too hard to pick a favorite.

As for your day yesterday, the cold would have bothered me immensely. I hate to be cold!

Lise, that open house sounds like it was not comfortable for you, and always bad when you don't have time to eat.

I am glad that you at least had some crackers to satisfy your hunger for a bit.  My favorite food right now is quite the opposite of yours, since it is a salad, haha.

I am glad your open house was successful. Getting the heat on may be at the top of your list.

We have not yet tried Duck Donuts.

Hi Lise- can't believe you had to stand in the unheated house for so long!!! When we looked at the house that we're in, it was in December and the heat wasn't on. It was so cold I almost walked out.

I grew up in Houston and love Shipley's Donuts. They are more like Krispy Kreme.  I'm hungry just thinking about it.
