How to stay productive throughout the working day
Staying productive is the name of the game Joseph Doohan provides us with some great advice with regard to how he does it.
I try hard to stay productive during the working day so that I can get all my tasks completed and generate results for my clients and for my business.
In this post I am going to talk about a number of tips that I use to stay productive throughout the day, yet not get stressed as a result of work overload. It is important to structure your day and set out reasonable expectations of what can be achieved. The worst thing that you can do is try to do everything in the one day as you will end up feeling like you have achieved nothing.
Here are some tips that I use to keep myself productive and help me not get stressed during my working day.
To Do Lists
I find that to do lists are useful for keeping yourself focused on the tasks at hand. When you complete a task, it can certainly feel rewarding .
There are numerous ways that you can do a to-do list including:
Simply write a list on a sheet of paper
Pure simple and straight forward, just jot down some of your tasks for the day on a sheet of paper and simply strike it off after you complete your task.
To do smartphone app
If you want a more environmentally friendly way to keep tabs on your to do list, you can find various apps on the app stores that will certainly help you achieve your goals for each day.
Google Keep
If you use Google, you can use their "keep" app feature to help you make lists, notes and more. I use Google Keep all the time and I find that it always keeps me in check and keeps me focused. There is a web app and a smartphone app version which sync's to your signed in account.
Use Productivity Apps
I use apps that pay you and productivity apps on my smartphone. There are a number of paid and free prioductivity apps that you can get for your smartphone that will allow you to track your progress throughout the day.
Calendar and slack are good productivity apps to use if you are working as part of a team or trying to organise yourself. I really like Calendar and set out my tasks at the start of the week to set out goals. I then work towards achieving these goals.
Take regular breaks
While you might think that taking a break will waste your time, they actually do the opposite and are really helpful for your progress. By taking a break you can take your mind of your work for a short period and once you get back to business, you will be more focused. I find that if I keep working I make mistakes or tend to lose focus. Instead, by taking a break, you can easily get back to the task at hand and work towards completing it with a focused mind.
