How many of us order from Amazon? How many of us toss the boxes in the trash?  The recylcle bin?  I'm betting MANY of us.

Exciting news!  Now you can re-purpose that box and donate items at the same time - all at no cost to you! Enter Amazon and The Give Back Box

Some of us can't recycle cardboard.  Maybe that cardboard can't be recycled?

Excitement doesn't even describe this ingenious box.  Check out the details here.

Know that you can repack that Amazon box with charitable donations, select a charity or not, and off it ships for FREE!    Here's the details.  HOW SIMPLE!

Folks, let's keep these charitable donations out of landfills and recycle them through Amazon boxes.

I'm filling this empty box, pictured above with donation items tomorrow!

Ingenious idea by Monika Wiela, former owner of an online shoe store.

Sometimes all it takes is an idea!

that is totally cool. We normally break down our boxes and but them in recycle but this is even better.

It's a new one for me, too Lise Howe .  The creative part is choosing a charity that is not in your town, so you have to get crafty on the site.

Check out the charities to receive the box to make sure you aren't using up free postage vs. a local charity Barbara Todaro .  When I didn't select a charity, the site chose Goodwill in another state, when there's one about 6 blocks from my house.  Be careful to choose a charity you prefer that is too far away for it to be convenient for you, because shipping another box adds a carbon footprint from the truck doing the shipping.  It takes a little research, but a good way to re-purpose the boxes.

It's good you can recycle cardboard Kat Palmiotti .  Some states can't recycle cardboard, so it's more beneficial for them.  Thank you for commenting!

Brian England it is a good idea in theory, however, if a person can recycle cardboard and there are local charities, then great.  I think this is more beneficial for those in rural areas and cities that don't have a recycle program for cardboard.  I tried the site and without selecting a charity, the site chose a Goodwill location out of state for me to ship, thereby increasing the carbon footprint of re-shipping the box when there's a Goodwill facility 6 blocks from my house.  Thank you for commenting and have a great day!

Joe Pryor it is a way to repurpose a box if you can't recycle it.  Check out my comments to Brian above.  Thank you and have a great day!

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP , you're so right.  And I'm amazed at the woman shoe owner who thought of the idea.  How smart.  She has loads of boxes and needs to do something with them.  For her business, that's a lot of boxes!  Check out my comments to Brian above.  You have to be a bit crafty to select a charity that is not local because you could be adding to the carbon footprint of that box by re-shipping when you could just take your stuff to a local charity.  Have a great day!

Jan,

Sounds like a good idea, and I use those boxes to take items to the local charity and they do recycle them.  I am happy to drive a few miles rather than ship them and creating more carbon footprint.  A

Exactly my point when I further researched, see comments above Ron and Alexandra Seigel .  Most don't even think of the carbon footprint associated with any one item, let alone the extra fuel, etc for shipping a box.  As I mentioned above, I thnk this is a good fit for rural customers who aren't near a facility like you and I!  Have a  great weekend!

That's a nice idea, and as you say needs a little research as to where the box goes next time.  I'll keep it in mind though since we do get a lot of boxes from Amazon.
