How to get to the Cannes Film Festival

Real Estate Agent with Coming service

Have you ever thought about how to get to the Cannes Film Festival without being a celebrity or a director? In other words — how can we, ordinary people, get access to it? We decided to find out how mere mortals can get tickets to one of the most prestigious events in the world.

To attend screenings at the Cannes Film Festival, you must be either an accredited participant or have an official invitation. In addition to screenings at the Cinéma de la Plage (beach cinema), which operates on a first-come-first-served basis, and a limited number of tickets for two director’s weeks, the general public does not have access to screenings at the festival.

If you are an accredited member, tickets are only required in some cases. In the past few years, ticket sales have moved from the “come early and wait” model to the online service. To get tickets, now you only need a unique ticket code (provided upon receipt of the accreditation package) and an icon — the participant must enter the site selling tickets for the festival.

At the beginning of the festival you will be asked to log in and choose the days when you will be in Cannes. Then you will be offered a schedule for these days, and you can choose the films for which you want to purchase a ticket. Unfortunately, this does not guarantee you a ticket; rather, it puts you in an opaque system in which some people receive distributed tickets, while others do not.

In any case, approximately 24 hours before the scheduled check-in time, you will receive a notification via the same website (therefore you need to log in) whether your request was successful or not. For those who get it, tickets are issued at the Billetterie Centrale, located in the Mediteranee Hall in the Palais des Festivals — at least 4 hours before the show.

The main advice for getting a ticket successfully is to dress in the best evening clothes: for men it is a black suit with a tie, and for women it is a ball gown. The famous premieres on the red carpet have a strict black dress code that includes royal dresses for women, bow ties and tuxedos for men. When else in your life can you dress like a movie star? Do not miss this moment! If you really want to get to the Cannes Film Festival, you have to play this role. Then go to the entrances to the Palais des Festivals — and get ready to wait. Actors and filmmakers are given a certain number of tickets to participate in the Cannes Film Festival and are fined if they do not use all the tickets. Sometimes they give these tickets back to well-dressed people just waiting for them at the entrances! Many of them hold a sign saying “Please, one ticket!” to be noticed.

Luxurious modern yachts are moored in the fishing port of Cannes, and you can easily get to the magnificent seaside resorts of the Cote d’Azur by sea: Antibes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco and others. If you are interested in a boat trip, you need to rent a yacht in Cannes, preferably accompanied by a professional skipper. Yacht charter will allow you to relax in the famous seaside resort, visit its vibrant events and go to the nearest islands.

What if you can’t enter

If our advice does not help, and you are left without tickets, do not despair. Here are some ways to get the most out of attending the Cannes Film Festival.

Cannes TV shows

Anyone can go down on the red carpet — along with excited crowds, you can watch what is happening on the giant television screens. Even if you are not a direct participant in an exciting event, you can still watch the events from a decent distance.

Cinema de la Cannes Beach

Cinéma de la Plage on Cannes Beach in the open air every night publishes a schedule for the film festival and can be a great option to experience the atmosphere of the holiday. If you want to watch the stars, Cinéma de la Plage is open to all and it’s free! Just try to get there early to rent a deck chair.

Spotting celebrities at Cannes restaurants and bars

Evening falls, and then the bars of Cannes are full of visitors to the event. The most popular beach bars host elite, exclusive parties. Bouncers with guest lists will not allow onlookers to enter, but you can well monitor how celebrities come in and out. The same thing applies to restaurants, but here you may be more lucky and you can chat with celebrities longer if your budget allows you to count on expensive dishes.

Cannes has no shortage of luxury hotels, and by the time of the Cannes Film Festival, their rooms are guaranteed to be booked by celebrities. Majestic, Martinez and Carlton are the best places to catch a glimpse of famous personalities getting in or out of their cars. If you are interested in an impressive Mediterranean holiday in this region, then you should contact 2yachts, a reliable intermediary in the yacht rental and purchase and sale market.

Definitely a lot of questions. Another to consider is how your neighbors will feel. Some are not happy to discover a tiny house going in next door for fear of the perceived impact on property value
