It's Local Quilt Shop Day
Are you a quilter?
Do you appreciate quilts made by others?
Or, is there someone special in your life that is a quilter?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then today is an important day!!
I am a quilter, sometimes I think I should be in a 12 step program for fabric addiction!! I love fabric and it really didn't hit me until I moved and my oldest son called me after moving some of my "stash" and said he was going to create a new reality show called
"Quilter or Hoarder - You Decide". I do have a lot of fabric. After I settled into my new place I donated 6 68 gallon rubber maid totes of fabric. Now, if you saw my sewing room you would scratch your head and say "really?, You still have a lot of fabric". I am now going through it again and so far have another Rubber Maid tote
almost full to donate. This is mostly because my tastes have changed and I am getting more selective in what I purchase. Now, I only purchase fabric if it has an immediate intended use.
But, that being said, today is Local Quilt Shop Day and I may be convinced to drop by my local quilt shop and see if I can find a backing fabric for the quilt I am making for my granddaughter.
A few of my favorite shops in Maryland are:
Bear's Paw, 8812 Orchard Tree Ln, Towson, MD
Capital Quilts - 15926 Luanne Dr., Gaithersburg, MD
Material Girls - 6750 Crain Hwy, LaPlata, MD
Please support local shops, they are the back bone of our community and create satisfying and meaningful jobs for people with special skills!!
