On Being Nice
Today, I'm inspired by some lovely posts written by Active Rain members. The first I read, was Sheila Anderson's post with the simple reminder to, Be Nice. It's since been shared, and it inspired yet another post on the subject from Nina Hollander. "Be Nice...It Costs Nothing To Be Nice, So Why Not Be Nice?
Indeed, why not? Do you equate power and strength with nasty behavior?
Perhaps, you're the one at the closing table who brags about leaving others quaking in their boots. Sad to hear, I'm pretty sure most of us aren't impressed. It's easy to behave like an angry kid in tantrum mode. It's much more difficult to completely satisfy and wow your clients while ensuring all parties feel as if they've be treated kindly and fairly.
Yes, there are some nasty personalities out there. Jealousy and comparison and inadequacy are robbers of joy. Feel sorry for the nasties in the world, and take the high road, I think they must be miserable. Wish them well, as you increase the distance between you. They are on a different journey.
On Being Creative
I was delighted to find Li Read's post, Practice Periphery Vision - with the powerful closing message,"In change lies opportunity. Catch it!"
We surround ourselves with technology, relying on it from the simple to the complex. At the same time, judging our progress and success by money gained, or the number of business deals we've racked up for the year. Conversely, this is how we also how we judge our lack of progress and success. There really is so much more.
Li has a wonderful reminder in her post. Please take a quiet moment and read it- savor it.
Closing Thoughts
When I feel good, I know my thoughts and actions are where they need to be. Our emotions are wonderful indicators as to how we are doing. Are we tapping in to our highest potential? Paying attention, really getting in tune with those emotions can help us make better decisions.
Take being kind, for example. It feels wonderful.
As for creativity, if you're feeling stuck, take Li's advice, "practice periphery vision - that's where creative ideas live." And being truly creative feels wonderful.
And this is where Alice in Wonderland comes in...
"I'm late, I'm late for a very important date."
Want to feel wonderful? Choose wonderful thoughts and actions, it's really never too late. And, it's really that simple.
