Super Bowl Sunday - Rise and Shine Campers, On to Anna's Party

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with ViewHomes of Clark County - Nature As Neighbors

After we leave the party at Carol Williams house, we're heading to Anna Banana Kruchten Broker/Owner, CRB, CRS 's house. We've put our Seahawks union suits away for now, and will be showing our support for the 49ers.

Showing our love for the West coast.

I ( Debb) had an odd dream about the game last night, in the style of the famous Bill Murray movie, Ground Hog Day. It went on forever and ever. How can you get to a perfect ending when two teams (and their fans) want different outcomes? "Okay, rise and shine campers and welcome to Super Bowl LIV (54)! A game that never ends?

Okay, let's be honest and call it a nightmare.

Generally, I tend to watch most football games in the style of my late father. He'd tune in for the last part of the game, claiming that's the only time that it really matters anyway. He's right, and further, he'd say, the rest of the big stuff lives on in replays.

Meanwhile, mom sits anxiously for every minute of the game cheering on her beloved players. We love her enthusiasm for sports. Like us, she gets a kick out of the commercials and especially enjoys the often tear-inducing Budweiser ads.  Who doesn't.

The halftime show is guaranteed to shake the stage with dancing queens, J-Lo and Shakira as co-headliners. Wonder if we'll see a belly dance? On another musical note, Demi Lovato will be singing the National Anthem.

See you soon, Anna. We will leave any left-over wings at Carol's house.  But don't worry, we didn't forget the cauliflower crust pizza recipe promised for Barbara Todaro. We'll be bringing a number of pies with a variety of toppings.

Healthy Pizza Options for Barbara

Bernie's recipe:

Note - this assumes you are starting with the pizza shell with no toppings. Also, any meats or sausages must be pre-cooked separately.
There are three steps: crisp the crust, melt the cheese, add toppings at the end. The time for cooking will depend upon the temperatures of your grill.  We have a Weber Genesis II with four burners.  After pre-heating, to achieve medium indirect heat, I set the two outside dials to about 5 o’clock with the other burners off.

Ingredients:

  • Frozen pizza crust - we use the cauliflower crust made by Caulipower.   (They also sell a Paleo version with fewer carbs) We've made our own, but prefer this one.
  • Sauce of choice - we use our traditional pasta sauce, but add extra tomato paste to thicken, plus oregano.
  • Shredded mozzarella, romano, and parmesan - and whatever else you like.

  1. Preheat grill on high to at least 400-500F
  2. Turn down to medium indirect heat (based on grill’s instructions)
  3. Remove pizza crust from freezer - do not prethaw
  4. Put frozen crust in middle upside down
  5. Close lid
  6. Cook for about 3-5 min or until it starts to lightly brown
  7. Turn over and spread sauce to the edges, and add cheeses.
  8. Close lid and cook until cheese just starts to melt (another 3-5 min, depending upon your grill)
  9. Add whatever meat or other toppings you desire
  10. Close lid and cook on indirect for 3 to 5 minutes
  11. Take off burner and check crust underneath for crispness. If not crisp, turn burners on high and put it on for about a minute more. If done, add extra cheese on top if desired

ViewHomes™ grew out of our passion for nature, beautiful surroundings, and peaceful environments. Starting together in an urban environment, over the years we've gravitated towards areas with smaller populations and less density. We now enjoy our lifestyle in a rural environment, but with close proximity to metropolitan areas where we appreciate all the amenities of fine restaurants, shopping, and an easy drive to an international airport.
Living in ViewHomes™ is like having “elbowroom for the soul”.

Bob "RealMan" Timm and Sheila Anderson - yes, dad was on to something. Although, unlike my father, if I really get into the game, I can get very excited about the outcome. He rarely gave it that kind of emotion, but he did tend to root for the underdog.

Kathy Streib and Roy Kelley - gluten causes me problems, so this recipe allows me to indulge in one of my favorite treat foods again. I love it. And folks who don't know it's a cauliflower crust are astounded when we tell them.

Brian England - I was going to say, doubt Barbara Todaro is going to cheat today. No way. She's disciplined, that's why she's a lean and strong machine. :)  I think she is inspired by athleticism and wanted to do a Super workout in honor of Super Bowl Sunday.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I love your enthusiasm! You have actually made me more excited about the Superbowl than ever in my lifetime! Were you a Cheerleader in your other life? By the way, I'm glad you changed your clothes. These look more comfortable and I see Bernie actually has hands!!! I liked how you dressed Carol up too! She worked hard on those recipes, I'm sure she appreciates the new clothes too!

As for being your parents' daughter goes, I think you can be 50% practical like your dad and 50% fun spirited like your mom! I'm sure today is as special to her as Christmas Day! It would be fun to record her watching the game without her knowing it.

Have a ball today and enjoy this very special day. I like how you combined Groundhog Day with Superbowl Sunday! You are fun people!!!

I like your idea of recording mom during the game. I will do it! Thank you.

Hey all, the game was good. We enjoyed it and even appreciated the big win for the Chiefs. They fought hard and won. Good for them.  The food was fabulous too. All in all, a nice Super Bowl Sunday.
