It is with deep sorrow and a lot of tears I report to all of our ActiveRain peeps ~ Nestor Gasset, you all know and many have met ~ died suddenly of a massive heart attack Sunday night.
Tristan is only 17 years old. This is the hardest part... to see my son lose his dad. Nestor was the one who took Tristan to baseball practices until just this season when Tristan started to drive himself. Nestor was the one who would bring Tristan to Cold Stone and Chick Fil A.
Nestor just said on Friday:
" I am looking forward to watching Tristan play baseball next week", as games are starting.
Tristan is the varsity pitcher for Wellington High School varsity team.
Nestor LOVED watching Tristan play baseball. He was such a proud dad. He kept all of Tristan's stats.
Many of you have met Nestor when I was speaking for ActiveRain at the AR camps and other events and meet-ups. He was so congenial. He liked to do business person to person and I make my visits, like to our dentist, the entire office shut down and turned off the background music to process the news. They remember him.
Nestor was born in Cuba. His mother and father escaped from Fidel Castro when Nestor was 6 or 7 years old. He was first in Miami. Then his father got a job in Indiana so they moved there. Then he went to Ball State University and then moved to Texas. He moved to Florida in 2000. He has been a real estate broker since 1995.
Nestor died without having life insurance and no funds for a burial. In fact, he had just changed passwords so we did not even have the chance to document them- so I have no access to anything.
We are doing a fundraiser to raise the funds for the funeral expenses and to get all 9 kids here for the services.
The fundraiser is set up on Facebook at this link:

I am going through so much pain and emotions right now. The tender mercies from Heavenly Father abound. I have felt wonderful love and support from all of my online friends, my church, my neighbors, extended family and the REALTOR community. Thank you so much for being here for me during this tragic time.
