Whether Your Team Is In the Super Bowl or NOT - Super Bowl Party Passion IS In!

The reasons we are passionate about the game are many - some love the commercials, some have their hometown team playing the game, a relative playing in the game or we love getting together to share FOOD! This year, my reason is the last one - food!

Best Bone Broth Ever! This recipe has won in chili cook-offs so don't poo-poo any of the ingredients until you've tried this altogether! Here are a few things that I will substitute -

1. Ground Pork for the ground chuck - I like my chili a little porkier than beefy.

2. For the last 10 years or so, I have substituted Beef Bone Broth for the bouillon cubes & water. To me, it's more flavorfor and healthier too. (Just got my Whole Foods delivery! Let the cooking begin!)

3. I really should change this recipe to read Black Beans for ½ of the Kidney Beans - I've done that for years and prefer the texture of the black beans over the kidney beans.

Grandma’s Chili - Tweaked!

2 large onions, chopped

1-2 C fresh peppers (your choice - red, green, yellow, jalapeño, etc.)
2 lbs ground round
2 lbs ground chuck

1 lb ground sausage

1/3 c chili powder
Best Bone Broth EVER1 T cumin (or more to taste)
1 can tomato paste

1 can or bottle of beer
1 cup of ‘strong’ coffee
1 28 oz can tomato sauce (or a little more if it's too thick)
1 28 oz can petite diced tomatoes

2 T sugar
1 T Worcestershire sauce
2 T vinegar
4 beef bouillon cubes in 2 cups water

1T oregano
1 tsp paprika

2 can red kidney beans
1 can northern white beans
2 cups SWEET corn, cut off the cobb - (I use about 6 ears)

Sauté onions and peppers in a little oil. Add beef and sausage and cook, skim fat. Add tomato paste & seasonings and stir. Add beer & coffee and bring to a low boil. Add all the rest and cook on low.

If it's too thick, add a little more tomato sauce and beef broth. It gets better the longer it simmers over a really low flame. Tweak the seasonings. Serve with a dollop of sour cream, chopped scallions and crumbled tortilla chips or Frito chips.

Favorite Peppers to add to Chili

Now, a HUGE thank you to you, Anna Banana Kruchten Broker/Owner, CRB, CRS & Carol Williams, for hosting this fun 2020 Super Bowl Party! Hopefully everyone will check in tomorrow with pictures of the recipes they tried!

Hello Debe - passion is an ingredient that provides that extra push and sometimes that's just what is needed in order to rise to the top.

I just finished prepping everything so, the pork & beef, onions, garlic & peppers are all browned, mixed with the other ingredients and ready for the crock pot in the morning!

As for the bone broth (pictured above) - I buy Whole Foods' EPIC broth and I love the Beef Jalapeño Sea Salt flavor for the chili. Good stuff!

Enjoy the game tomorrow, Kathy Streib!

It is fairly spicy, Sharon Lee and if I think it's just too spicy, I'll add more black beans to tame the flavor!

Glad you're getting into the fun of the day, Debe. Bernie would love this chili, I don't eat pork or meat, so we would need to substitute with ground chicken or turkey and ground chicken or turkey sausage. Enjoy the day. D

I am starting to get angry about the Super Bowl food post. I don't think I will look good after I gain fifty pounds by eating all these delicious recipes.

It sounds you had an awesome super bowl party Debe Maxwell, CRS I was able to see part of the game at the NC airport. We had a quick layover there in our way back from Canada .

The chili looks delicious and I like your recipe tweaks.  Being a Raider fan meant that I also celebrated the food at this years party, which is not a bad thing. Now, back to the gym.
