John Fryer was born in Well-next-the-Sea, Norfolk, England back in 1753. Can’t find much about his childhood. In 1787, he was appointed master of a ship. After serving in the Royal Navy he retired in 1812. He died in 1812.
What you may not know about John is that the ship he was appointed master of was the HMAV Bounty. He was a strong critic of Lieutenant William Bligh and the mutiny leader Fletcher Christian. Despite his anger at Bligh, he did not support the mutiny. So, tell me did you know of John before now?
