Boasting This Post/Niche… It Takes a Village
This month Richie Alan Naggar is hosting the Boast-a Post ActiveRain challenge. This one is going to be fun to read!!!! The hardest part for me was in deciding which post and then finding it!
I chose Multigenerational Housing, “The Story of Us”-Best Movie Entry from Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD This post was written about 5 years ago and was part of a “Be the Star In Your Own Movie” Contest that we used to have and was hosted by Roger Mucci.
I was captivated by the video that showed Debb’s parents who lived next door. There have been numerous posts that follow and still do about multigenerational living from Debb and Bernie but this was the one that stayed with me.
1. Why did you choose this posting?
It may not have been this specific post of Debb and Bernie’s but it’s close enough. I became intrigued by the idea of multi-generational living for families.
2. Does the posting have first impression qualities? Did it impress you? Will it impress others? Explain
Just ask Debb if it impressed me! While I’ve loved reading Debb and Bernie’s blog for as long as I can remember, I follow all of their posts on multigenerational living. Many of us are in or know families that are in situations like Debb and Bernie. If you are an agent, chances are you’ve had clients who needed a home that could accommodate more than one generation.
3. Did the post author capture the subject matter?
Debb and Bernie don’t just write about it they live it! They explain the pros and cons and how they work things out.
4. Can the point of the post be put to good use personally or professionally or both? Share how so
I grew up in a multigenerational home and wouldn’t change a thing. It allowed my brother and me to really get to know our grandparents.
When our parents were still alive, Larry and I looked at the possibility of any of them coming to live with us when we were purchasing a new home.
5. What message do you walk away with after reading the post? What is the heart-core of it? Sum it up!
Life is a lot different now and families are spread out all over the country. But if the stars align, we can be there for the parents who were there for us.
6. Is the author of the post an example or demonstration of the post subject? In what way?
Debb and Bernie live their blog with nature as neighbors and in a multigenerational home. When Debb and her sister, Cheri, lost their father a few years ago (forgive me if I have the time wrong) they were all there to support their mother.
7. Your two cents. Whatever you want to say, add or emphasize...well who is stopping you? Go for it!
Our primary reason for returning to Houston was to be close to family. We have pitched in to help my niece out with carpool and child-watching duties and helped with my sister-in-law’s parents. This is what gives life so much meaning.
Here are two other posts from Debb and Bernie that illustrate how they live what they write about.
