If you are interested in a seminar about how to get along with your fellow neighbor, friend, family member and fellow human being, then the Iliff’s Renewal Conference 2019 should scratch that itch.  From the event’s own description page, the description is as follows: “How do we lead in times of division? What are the issues of division that we face, where did they come from, and how do we speak into those spaces? Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of Iliff will gather to discuss, rest, and heal from issues facing our region, nation, and world. We will engage important topics, learn about new possibilities, eat great food, experience moving worship, hear about exciting new initiatives, and celebrate the highlights along the way.”

The Iliff School of Theology is putting this on and will be conducting the conference over the next couple days.  The beginning date is Monday, February 10 beginning at 8:00am and the entire conference will come to a head by 11:00am on Wednesday February 12.  There are several speakers on the docket and the top three will be Dr. Andrea Smith, Dr. Ted Vial and Rev. Traci Blackmon.  Dr. Andrea Smith is a Scholar and Activist in Native American Issues; Associate Professor of Media & Cultural Studies University of California Riverside and will be delivering her talk on the Monday session as one of three influential Plenary Speakers.  Dr. Ted Vial is a Scholar of Gender, Race, and Religion in the Modern World; Harvey Potthoff Professor of Theology and Modern Western Religious Thought, Iliff School of Theology and will be conducting his talk at the Tuesday Morning session.  Rev. Traci Blackmon is a National and International Faith Leader for Social Justice, including the Black Lives Matter movement; Executive Minister of Justice & Witness Ministries of the United Church of Christ and will be speaking at the Tuesday Afternoon workshop.

The conference features other events that range anywhere from workshops and panels, presentations by graduate students at the Iliff School of Theology, faculty conversations, an Author’s Reception, a live discussion on the follow up of the main discussions and many more.  This provides the ability for some of these talks to become actual conversations and allow the ideas to develop more when posed to a group of people with differing opinions and backgrounds.  True dialogue is on display here and the Iliff School of Theology deems it their most important goal.  Head online to register for the event and to see any other details that were left out of this post.  There will be schedules handy for you once you have made it past the registration.
