You know when CDOT tells everyone NOT to come into the mountains, you shouldn't even try. Some ski areas did not open today since it was so tough getting up into the hills. The highway was shut down from Golden west earlier today.

Avalanche danger is very high and it is recommended to be careful even driving along I-70. Some areas have already received over two feet of snow. Here in the Denver metro area, North barely got any, but the south part of town got 7-8" so far, and it is still snowing.
Some semis trying to travel in the mountains today were buried in snow up to their wheel wells. That is a lot of snow! I remember years and years ago not leaving the slopes early enough when a storm was rolling in, and never got through the tunnel to get back home and had to stay in a motel.
January was sure nice and even enjoyed a few 70 degree days. Those days are long gone, and February came in like a lion!
