I have lived in the Berkshires, in western Massachusetts, for a little over eight years now. Most folks retire to places in the sun where warmth is a hallmark: not me. I love seasons and cold weather is so a part of that. For most of my time here, there have actually only been three seasons here: Winter, Summer, and a very little Fall. Spring here is filled with mud and comes and goes quickly.
This year we have had a relatively warm Winter, but not today. Temperatures in single digits and 40 mile an hour wind gusts make the sun a welcome visitor but not for long. Brrrrrrrrrre, it is really cold outside.
