On Thoughtful Answers. . .

On Thoughtful Answers. . .   I can appreciate a thoughtful answer but I can also understand a brief response.  Off-the-cuff even.

Perhaps a snarky retort fits the situation.  Or a quick quip.  This is yet another example in the game of "It Depends".  A game that is a favorite of some but despised(or at least not well-liked) by others.  You can't please everyone, I guess.

Recently, I pondered about questions so naturally thoughts of answers have entered my thinking as well.  The range of answers understandably varies.  The reasons are based on the  relationship of the answerer and questioner , timing as well as time allotted, the question itself and countless others.

Quotes about and on answers are numerous as you might imagine.  I like these words by George Carlin because hey, it's George Carlin after all:

The reason I talk to myself

is that I'm the only one whose answers I accept

                                                                              George Carlin

Of course pondering about answers can easily lead me to thinking of listening.  Listening Carefully as well as Careful Listening.  Stay tuned.  More pondering is likely to follow.  But I assume you knew that...

Good morning Michael Jacobs - I look forward to more pondering on thoughtful answers.  It depends is a great way to help people with their own answers.  Give a man a fish or teach him to fish.

Barbara Todaro - enjoying a chuckle or two is good.

Nina Hollander - talking to dogs/cats doesn't seem too odd to me.  Actually, it seems quite common as I see/hear it while out and about.  Unfortunately, I never had the pleasure of an in-person George Carlin moment but I was able to see Robin Williams before he was famous.

Brenda Mayette - with as much practice as I have had talking/answering myself one might think I have mastered it...still practicing...and often too.

Kat Palmiotti - diverse indeed!  Brian England - constant improvement is a good thing.

Sharon Tara - although and "it depends" could be kissin' cousins.

Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - mean-spirited is not good.

Norma J. Elkins - I have had those moments when I wished I could set the time back and responded quickly with something clever.

Joan Cox - it's a fun quote, isn't it?

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - you're right about the ActiveRain comments we see/read and the pondering possibilities than can and do follow.

Sharon Lee - I am not sure which came first for me.  Pondering or talking to myself.

Michael,

I loved many of George Carlin's routines.  It is another one of those things we quote...He owned a little building on San Vicente, and we used to see him often.  A nod and a smile and then he would be talking to himself.  He had a lot of depth in his comedy... A

First of all, Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you discover love all around, wherever you go.

After pondering the subject, "On Thoughtful Answers," you have given me reason to pause. I shall do a better job reading before commenting - at least I will try to be more thoughtful. Thank you, for the wake-up call. I really needed it and appreciate it!
