It Takes A Village To Sell A House

It takes a village to sell a house

It takes a village to get your home prepared, photographed, on the market, listed, shown, under contract, closed, packed, and moved.  So many people may be involved. Start with the people who live there. Everyone has to be on board, which may include family, siblings, children, and parents.  When recent homeowners mentioned to their married children, they were talking with a Realtor®; these "kids" were not happy.

Who is the decision-maker? Who is the orchestra leader?

Now it's terrific if you are moving because you can afford a bigger, better home,  you are in a  successful relationship, enjoy job security, positive relationship change, and all those "happy ever after" events that occur.

But it is not always how our world works. Other situations can cause a need for a move. Among them are death, divorce, illness, forced retirement, job layoff, financial hardships... to name a few.

Some of the people in the village involved are the Real Estate Broker, accountant, attorney, an organizer, and contractors.

Needed are maintenance for both insides, outside, upside, and down. These may include a roofer, a hauler, a window washer, a painter, and various charities to donate.

Do you need help making the decision?

Do you need help deciding where to move?

Do you need help with the timing of your move?

Do you need help finding the folks in your village?

Do you need help organizing your move?

Do you need help with starting the move process?

Let's get the questions answered!

Thinking about selling your home?

Call Margaret Rome.

Good morning, Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland there's only one decision maker and that's the homeowner....but along side of that decision make is the team leader and that's the listing agent.... the provider of information.... the all-knowing professional to give guidance but not make decisions....and there's a laundry list of decisions to be made....

I agree it does take a village. On another note, I call those extra family members and friends who have their own attitudes about a sale - the silent partners.  They are out there and tend to cause a lot of havoc at times. However, it's always good to know who is there and who is influential. We had a daughter completely stop her mother's purchase of a townhouse. It was amazing to watch it unfold.  I will never forget how sad it was for the woman too...she was hoping to move into a facility with a couple of good friends nearby. The daughter didn't think the mother should live alone ( in her 70's) - and threw a real fit to get mom to derail the purchase. ( We both thought there was more going on...)  We didn't know about the daughter's feelings until the inspection when she came along for the ride.  So many complicated parts and emotions involved in certain sales.

Barbara Todaro And we have to know who the decision-maker is and a listing agent who is the knowledgeable orchestra leader.

It really does take a village to sell homes, doesn't it.  A good real estate professional knows that, and understands the importance of coordinating with other entities in transactions to keep everything running smoothly.

Hi Margaret- you're so right. It takes so many people to get a home sold and I do like what Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD calls the others who may not technically be part of the village but are...the silent partners.

Myrl Jeffcoat,  And that agent is like the orchestra leader. Without a conductor, there is just sound and no melody.

And we need to be aware of those silent partners and what influence they have on the principals.

They can help make it go smooth or they can wreak havoc.

Margaret Rome, Baltimore Maryland - It takes a Village is right! There are so many moving parts - nearly impossible for one single person to do it all. And it should not be on one person's shoulders. Not getting  the right Team together (beginning with the right Real Estate Agent) will hold the seller(s) back. Following your instructions on selling the Rome Way will help Sellers in a very BIG way.
