Motivational Monday...Root Where You Are Planted...and Thrive
On our walks, I’ve noticed a tree that through some act of Mother Nature (perhaps Hurricane Harvey) is not standing upright but leaning out over the small lake, hovering just about the water.
Over the months, I’ve wondered whether it was going to just give up and fall in the lake or wither and die and eventually crumble into the lake.
So far it has done neither. What it has done is to continue to grow and thrive where it is.
This reminded me of when I first moved to Delray Beach.
I did not want to be there.
My neighbor (who would become part of our extended family) gave me 5 words of advice…
Root where you are planted.
Until then, I lived in the world of “I don’t want to be here” and was not enjoying myself.
Life is full of change...we move, those around us move, things don’t turn out the way we’d hoped.
If we fail to embrace where we are in our lives and relish the buffet that is laid before us, we could wake up one day with the realization that we have been deprived of all that life has to offer.
At some point, you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening. Anonymous
