Are You Observing National Clean Your Computer Day?

By
Real Estate Agent with GreatWest Realty DRE# 00827565

For those who haven’t heard, today is National Clean Your Computer Day. So, I’ve been spending time deleting files or organizing them better on my computer! This is especially true with my photo files. Generally, I create and name photo folders beginning with a date – Year, month, day, plus event name, etc. My folders weren’t in bad shape, but I did locate several photos I hadn’t seen for quite some time because of their being in the wrong folders.

Likely the most important thing I’ve done today was to change out my old keyboard. I’ve had a new one in the closet for a couple years now. However, my old one with most of the letters rubbed off from use had been as comfortable as an old pair of shoes. I performed this replacement mostly to humor other folks who occasionally wish to use my computer, but are crippled by the lack of visible letters.

For those interested in this event which occurs the second Monday of each February, you can click on National Clean Out Your Computer Day!

Myrl I organize and clean out my files regularly, so I am glad to see there is a National Day for it.

Hi Myrl well now that I think about it I do need a new keyboard.  As for files I kind clean stuff up along the way a few minutes at the time. Feels good to clean the puppy up!

What a good holiday to get digitally organized and decluttered.  And I have to say, I have never seen a keyboard with the letters worn off! LOL!  Wow!  That is impressive! :-)

Hi Myrl- I think I spend my life deleting and reorganizing my photo files. LOL. Larry usually cleans my keyboard for me so I'm going to have him take care of it.

Myrl Jeffcoat - You're not alone! There's always something important to do but most of us don't get to it right away. Our offices and our computers need a LOT of organization and it must be ongoing too. Thanks for sharing the motivation to get those jobs done.

I had not heard, Myrl... but got a head start on this over the weekend... cleaned out some 1,200 emails out of my Outlook that were no longer needed. And that's on top of the 500+ I cleaned out the prior weekend. Beyond that, my computer, itself, is wiped down every week.

Hello Myrl - I just read an ActiveRain post by Lauren Williams, CPO about decluttering the home office to improve productivity.  Subtle hints?  Hmm...I wonder.  Spring cleaning is beneficial year-round.

I did not know that and it is indeed likely time for me to clean out my computer.  When it gets cluttered things slow down, haha.

Myrl,

My keyboard is new, and it does need a wipe or two.  Ron is the keeper of the files and he does a great job.  Thanks for telling us, and I will also polish my screen.  Cheers, A

Wow you really did wear out the letters on that old keyboard!  You can always get a little clear protector cover to go over it all.
