Remember?

This picture may bring back old memories of dirt roads, country areas, toy wagons, great relatives who helped with the kids and, in short, the good ole days.

The lady looks too old to have children that young but she is probably baby sitting for a family member.  It really did bring back old memories (not that pleasant) of country living on dirt words with very little traffic and how often families had a little red wagon to do lots of things with.....both work and play.

There does seem to be a mailbox in the background.  The "mail man" came by every day and families looked forward to his coming.  Imagine!  If he was delivering the Sears Roebuck catalog how much weight was in his vehicle.

One more thing reminds me of ladies back then.  Dresses......only dresses unless you were working in the fields.....picking cotton or something similarly unpleasant. Ladies did NOT wear pants.

I like today better!!

Good afternoon Barbara. This really is very special. I live in a small town with no mail delivery or trash pickup and have come to really like it.

Sheila, we have a tiny town or two around Searcy that does not have mail delivery.  Folks have to go to the post office to get their mail.  I didn't know this until I sold a house and the new owners were surprised to find this out.  I guess you go to the post office too.

That's an amazing glimpse into times past, Barbara!  I'm certain those years were more difficult in some ways, but much simpler in others.

Morning Barbara.

I remember my mother, never seen her in pants, she always wore a dress.  Yes, I do remember those dirt roads, always hated them, still do

Myrl, as a tiny child I remember a dirt road in front of our shack of a home and my sister and I hated seeing an old pickup truck come by everyday.  We did some childish scheming and tried to figure out how we could place an upright nail in the road to fix his tire.  We did not succeed.

James, no one, as far as I know, likes a dirt road.  And a muddy dirt road is worse!

Hello Barbara - the photo of the dirt road, the streetside mailbox and the woman wearing a dress with a hat is not a scene from my personal memory bank.  My Mom wore pants, we had mail delivery(I do recall it twice a day when I was a young child) and paved roads.

Michael Jacobs, you have to be young and not a country boy!  LOL
