Gregory Dimitri Gadson was born in Chesapeake, Virginia back in 1966. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York graduating in 1989. He hold a master’s degree from Webster University and another master’s degree from Georgetown University. You can tell he is way beyond me.
Anyway, he is also a graduate from the Command and General Staff College and the Advanced Field Artillery Officers Course. He was deployed to Desert Shield/Desert Storm and was Chief of Operations for North, Bosnia-Herzegovina. In May 2007, while returning from a memorial service for two soldiers from his brigade, he was injured by a roadside bomb in Baghdad, losing both of his legs and his right arm.
What you may not know about Gregory is that he was also in the movie Battleship and the amputee star. He gave an inspirational speech to the New York Giants which culminated in them winning Super Bowl XLII. For his speech, he was given a specially minted Super Bowl ring.
He still remains the teams’ motivational speaker. A true American hero.
