Nob Hill is one of the iconic landmarks of San Francisco. With the California Street cable car running up the hill from the Financial District to Van Ness Avenue, you can arrive at one of the famed hotels in the city, The Fairmont, Huntington, or Mark Hopkins. Grace Cathedral also commands the hilltop, as does the Masonic Auditorium, a private club, some residences and an urban city park. This is visitor mecca.

However, if you head down the hill just a few blocks west, you'll find a very different vibe, one with more of a neighborhood feel, and close to numerous restaurants, clubs, grocery stores, hardware stores, nail salons, hair salons and coffee shops. This is where you'll meet and greet your neighbors as you meet them walking about shopping. You can join the lines at the renown Swan Oyster Depot, or enjoy meals at many ethnic restaurants--middle Eastern, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Mexican, Korean, Chinese, Japanese. Enjoy crepes, cookies, and traditional American brunches. The venerable House of Prime Rib (established in 1949) is close, too, and a fine German restaurant a handful of blocks north.

Contraband Coffee, Larkin & Sacramento, SF

sunset from Sacramento St, Nob Hill, SFThis is a neighborhood where you'll find a mix of apartment buildings, 3- and 4-unit condos or Tenancy-in-Common buildings, with an occasional co-op building.

This is where you'll find Edwardian condos, built not many years after the 1906 earthquake and fire, like the one at 1561 Sacramento Street along with a variety of other styles, some fairly new, yet blending into the neighborhood and sharing the vibe.

Here one can catch a magnificent sunset, or enjoy a quiet moment in a backyard retreat.

As of yesterday, there were only 15 condos for sale in Nob Hill:

1 - one-bedroom

8 - two-bedrooms

5 - three-bedrooms

1 - four-bedroom

If you are looking for your special place, or if life plans make this a good time for you to sell, give me a call. Let's talk.
