Started in 1998, the Great Backyard Bird has been happening in February with the help of people all over the world.
This four day time frame provides an "annual snapshot of the distribution and abundance of birds".
If you enjoy watching birds, please consider participating in this count that is helpful in documenting bird activity.
The count this year is February 14 - 17, Friday - Monday.
All it takes to participate, is a minimum of 15 minutes to watch, document your observations, and upload info onto the Cornell Lab of Ornithology ebird page.
The data collected can be seen in real time on their website, and the data is used by the Cornell Lab, National Audubon Society, Birds Canada and many other international partners, to document the activity and health of birds on our planet.
