The DELETE Button IS the New MODERATOR!
Whatever happened to an intellectually stimulating debate between colleagues, friends and family members? Even a respectful, agree-to-disagree mindset has completely taken leave, most likely to never return.
In the past, debate teams prepared, then traveled to forums for complex discussions with other students. They used words wisely in persuasive arguments, attacking the subject matter, rather than their opponent.
The art of reason and compromise can bring society together, though opinions may differ, to make strong arguments via discussion. Strategic thinking also gives insight on how to best present differing ideas, respectfully.
Healthy debate leads to more fulfilling adult relationships and a successful mindset through critical thinking, improving and encouraging:
- reasoning skills
- better decisions
- clearer thoughts
Times have definitely changed. We can move forward confidently when avoiding the trap of on-line, hate-filled rhetoric by surrounding ourselves with positive, like-minded people, who use their opinions and words wisely.
If necessary though, use that DELETE button to moderate!
