Hello Kat, I remember how big this lake is being these in 2005 on the way up to Glacier National Park.

Kat Palmiotti - This is GREAT information to know! The campsites are a nice alternative for visitors who want to compare rates and availability to Glacier National Park. You described it well! I had no idea any of that existed.
Also, I always wanted to visit Wild Horse Island at Flathead Lake. Would love to plan a visit in the future and meet up with you again. Maybe I'll skip the Writer's Retreat. ![]()

Oh, Flathead Lake sounds like such a lovely place to visit, Kat - winter or summer - how beautiful and what a wonderful description (and photo).
I love that the campground provides food lockers to keep out the natives!! That is very clever.

Wow, that is beautiful but it does kind of look a little bit cold :) I like warm hikes.

Sam Shueh - No, there were no houses on that small island - just rocks.
Thank you Ron and Alexandra Seigel . The mountains change color from moment to moment, based on the angle of the sun, cloud cover, time of day. They are so inspiring.
Will Hamm - A good hour drive from one end to the other and certainly worth the drive!
Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - The wild horse island is on my list of "must-dos" also - and I totally understand skipping the Retreat!
Debe Maxwell, CRS - and the food lockers are NOT right next to the campsite but down the road a bit. There are some scavengers you might not want right next to the tent!
Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - I think it was in the 30s, which would be cold for you but wasn't bad for February in Montana!

Exactly! I remember camping as a child and that was my biggest fear - that I would wake up with a bear sleeping next to me!! I guess The Three Bears seemed more real to me than my parents realized! LOL

I don't remember ever thinking about bears when we went camping as children. I'm not sure why, because we camped in plenty of places that MUST have had bears.
Those things are HUGE. We would not want them next to/or on us!
Hi Kat Palmiotti - I will bet you enjoyed a wonderful hike. Good for you! Montana so agrees with you.

We used to go camping up in upstate New York on Fishers Pond, I believe, but this looks a great place to stay and enjhoy nature with wonderful long distance views.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - It was a nice hike, but too easy. Haha.
Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543 - I used to camp in NY but I'm not sure the place(s) we were camping at. This was very pretty!
Bob "RealMan" Timm - There are a ton of campers here in the summer - lots of people have that idea! You should definitely come visit. It's so pretty.

Grant Schneider - there is almost no snow on the ground at that park. It's been a very mild winter.
Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - Hi Paul! It is very clear. I just love this place.
Kat- with your love of the outdoors and hiking, it looks like you have landed in just the right spot. I wish they'd had the enclosed food bins when we used to go camping!!!

Brian England - the interesting thing about my new hometown is that there is SO much to do outside, during the "off" season when tourists are not here, most places are not busy. We have so much land we can explore, we don't usually run into too many people. It's great.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - I think next time we'll bring a picnic and stay a while.
Michael Jacobs - and I didn't make you hike up the hills! :-)
Thank you Jeff Dowler, CRS - I appreciate your comment!
I immediately thought video in reading your paragraph about the lack of the sound - it is so much easier to transport people to places via video than still photos and words. Would love to see you doing videos of your beautiful new area.

Great idea, Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD - I am planning to do more video this year.
I know two people who visited flat head lake and fell in love with the area and finally moved to Kalispell. That whole area is magical.
happy Saturday Kat Palmiotti

Is that a house on the island for permanent residents? What a place to be except when water level rises.
Thanks
