Wordless Wednesday: Sounds of Nature in Carlsbad

Just a bit of explanation for what appears to be a blank video - we've had a visitor outside our back door several times recently. The main reason for recording this was to share with the grandkids who immediately figured out what it was.

I called the Agua Hedionda Nature Center who said it was likely a Pacific Tree frog. I've heard them over at my Mom's condo complex too, and during the day.

Reminds me of nights near a pond, complete darkness but plenty of animal chatter.

We have several frogs that camp out around our waterfall during the summer. They create their own special melody.

When we just take a moment and listen, it's a beautiful world out there! My girls and I ended up watching a woodpecker at the park the other day. My first instinct was to ignore it, but my daughter commented on the sound and what it reminded her off, so we ended up watching for a few. I'm so glad we did. Priceless!

It felt like that to me as well Krystin Mitchell, CPA CFE but no pond or stream nearby. Our grandkids thought it was such fun...and no doubt will want to look for it when they come visit!

So true Sharon Lee  And it was loud enough we could hear it through the closed doors and windows (with our temps in the low 50s at that time of night).

That must be fun to hear Debe Maxwell, CRS  A frog chorus!

It really is true, Andrea Bedard  and it's fun to take the time and enjoy. I have a video of a laughing seagull, one of a woodpecker in our palm tree, and a couple videos of owls on our roof hooting.

Hi Jeff Dowler, CRS - How fun to share with your grandchildren. We don't have a water source close by but we do have a fountain and a jacuzzi in the backyard.  Somehow, those two water sources seem to attract a frog or two in late spring!

Well we had a skunk visitor too, a number of times, a few months ago Kathy Streib

Apparently the next door neighbor's dog got skunked one night when it had been in our yard first - they were out in the drive the next morning giving it a bath.

We don't always have to see what is out there to know what is out there, using all of our senses is a powerful thing.  I am sure that excited your grandkids!

Jeff, that would be very cool, and was excited to see a frog a few years ago in Napa.  We don't see frogs here.
