How Many Home Should I Visit Before Making an Offer?
One of the recent questions that we were asked by a client was “how many homes should I visit before making an offer?”.
This is a great question to ask!
Regardless of the number of homes that you visit, it’s important that you are thoroughly prepared as a buyer before you get out there to start searching for a home.
How to Get Prepared for Your Home Search
Even though home buying a home may sometimes look easy on TV, the reality is that there is a lot of thought and preparation that a buyer must go through before they actually start searching for homes.
Check your credit – You should do this before applying for a mortgage loan because if there are any items on your credit reports that don’t’ belong there, this could make it harder for you to get a great interest rate.
Save money for a down payment – Even though it’s always a good idea to save at least 20% for a down payment on a home, the good news is that you may be able to buy a home with a down payment as low as 3% if you qualify for an FHA loan.
Get pre-qualified for a mortgage loan – This is essential because it’s going to help you to know how much home you can really afford.
Define your search criteria – Your search criteria should include the number of bedrooms and bathrooms that you want in a home plus the square feet of the house, ideal location, amenities, school district, etc.
Besides the tips that we’ve offered that will aid you in getting ready for searching for a home, it’s also important for you to ask yourself when are you going to be ready to start the search?
Don’t wait too long; there’s never a better time to start searching for a home than right now, especially since nobody can really predict where the Real Estate market is going to be in six months to one year from now.
Why Your Preparation Is Important Before You Start Searching for A Home
Over the years that we’ve been helping home buyers in Southern California, we’ve found that it can sometimes take us showing our clients between 5-15 homes (or more) before they find the right one that matches their home search criteria.
Getting prepared before you start your home search is important because it’s going to help you to save time and focus on finding the home that you really want.
Your preparation is also important because it’s also going to save us time as your Real Estate Agent as well. Once we know what you’re specifically looking for in a home, we can narrow down our search and identify the homes that specifically match your search criteria.
