Oh, thank you, Nina Hollander! When I think of Steve, I think of him as the Gatekeeper who changed the world in which we lived during OUR lifetime! He was so young and although he didn't live as long we wish he could have, he carried a lot of weight on his shoulders and influenced many people both professionally and personally.

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone elses life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition."
---Steve Jobs
Wayne Martin - your wonderful comment reminded me of another great quote by Steve:
"Sometimes when life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith."
A sucessful culture in business is not just about the technology and the money - it's about the PEOPLE!

Hello Patricia - the word and the concept of "faith" is definitely an important part of this post and it may be the most powerful concept that has been reinforced by the words of Steve Jobs. That may surprise certain people who don't typically equate technology and faith but that seems evident to me.

Michael Jacobs - You're a great observer! Here are two other quotes that really hits home for me and I'm sure it will for others too:
"My favorite things in life don't cost any money. It's really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time." ---Steve Jobs
"You have to believe that the dots will somehow connect in your future." ---Steve Jobs

Barbara Todaro - Thank you.
We who were alive when Steve was born and experienced how much the world changed because of his technology during his life time were more blessed than we realized. because of Jobs, more jobs were created...
Norma J. Elkins - In memory of Steve, I hope you and others will find the time today to watch the YouTube (copyrighted) called Steve Jobs' 2005 Stanford Commencement Address. He starts his speech admitting he never graduated from College and this was the closest he ever got to a College Graduation.

I never knew much about Steve Jobs and I have never been an Apple guy, but I do know that he was supposedly a brilliant man. It was sad to see his health go downhill as it did.

Brian England - I hope you will consider watching his 2005 Commencement Speech as reference to Norma in comment #11. It will give you a brief insight into this incredible man. You really don't have to be an Apple guy or gal to appreciate the wave of positive influence he had on the world.

Good morning, my friend. This is an excellent post, with quotes-to-live-by by both Jobs and you. Loving what we do, learning who we are and embracing ourselves, believing in people - makes life so much more rewarding.

Good morning back to you, my friend! Thank you for the positive feedback. I think every individual was born with the potential to be successful in one way or another. It seems to me more people are spending a lot of money training their bodies and may be forgetting the mind needs to be trained too. Or searching the Internet for answers to questions without really living life to the fullest. I respect you for setting a prime example of doing exactly what you said is so important: "embracing ourselves, believing in people - makes life so much more rewarding." You were born to be a Montana gal!

Patricia, Steve Jobs was much more than Apple, he was about changing lives, and thinking beyond the norm.

Amen! You are right George Souto! and to think this brilliant young man was put up for adoption at birth. That little baby grew up to be a giant of man who as you say, learned to think "beyond the norm!" Come to think of it, it's a story that should be shared by Pro Life.

Thanks for sharing the Steve Jobs quotes, and even more for your interpretation of them. I think it becomes easier not to live someone else's life as we become older. I'm living mine, and appreciating every minute of it. Wishing you a fantastic week, Patricia.

Lottie Kendall - Truly, I appreciate your wisdom and friendship. I think you make a good point. When young adults are just starting out, it's very important for them to emulate someone they admire, thinking they will get the same results. Many are disappointed...
The older we get, the wiser and more sensible most people become. I'm always in awe with people like Steve Jobs who live just long enough to make the biggest impact on other people's lives. In hindsight, for better or worse, at different stages of his life, his destiny was fulfilled.
Hi Patricia - Beautiful tribute to Steve Jobs. He was a man who raised the bar for many people to think WAY outside the box and create big things. Amazing guy.

Anna Banana Kruchten Broker/Owner, CRB, CRS - For a man who lived such a short life, who wasn't even wanted at birth by his birth mother, he made a significant difference in how we do business and how to live our lives using computers and Apple products today to make life easier and better for all! He certainly wasn't perfect, and his challenges were many, but he stayed focused on what he had to do and made a difference. If truth be told, he maximized his time on earth greater than other companies that stayed in the business for a long time, i.e., Sears, K-Mart, World Com, etc.
Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - not only do I just love this post but I love your creativity with this! Steve Jobs did drop a lot of knowledge but so does Patricia Feager! :-)

Great post, nice quotes and homage to Jobs. It was fun growing up in the land of Apple, Google, LinkedIN, Lucas Films and so many more online companies. Although none existed when I was a kid and we were never aware of being called the Silicon Valley until the late 1990's, prior to that, it was just The Bay Area (one and only true Bay Area BTW). ![]()
My first compter was a Radio Shack TRS80 and then the Apple II. It cost me $3,000 dollars and I bought it in my college book store. No Amazon or Best Buy back then. LOL

Francine Viola - What a nice compliment! Thank you, so much!
Steve Jobs opened up a new world of creativity beyond the paintbrush of an Artist! His mind was in control of his actions that became a phenomenal success. Failures were many; he never gave up. When we look back at our lives, we can think how lucky we were to have lived in a time of technology and knowledge not afforded to the many generations that came before us.
I hope you have an extraordinary day!
Thomas J. Nelson, Realtor e-Pro, CRS, RCS-D, Vets - LaJolla is such a great place! I enjoyed reading your background about growing up in the land of plenty of inspiration, innovation, and fun!
I remember the Radio Shack TRS80! What fun memories! Oh, yes, the cost of computers were so expensive back then!!! Come to think of it, without Amazon or Best Buy, I don't think many consumers shopped and compared or had any inkling about whether or not they were getting a good deal. I just remember from what I learned from my mother. If the store put something on sale, you were getting a deal. And if the store offered a Midnight Blue Light Sale - she was there at midnight! LOL
Things sure have changed a lot in our lifetime!

Mike Frazier - Talk about "ambition and a willingness to work hard," he championed that idea! I loved the story about how Steve Jobs cold called Bill Hewlett at HP for parts and landed up with an Internship! Personally, I think the Recruiting World has made it more difficult than it should be for people to get jobs. Today, the focus is more on getting the perfect resume to the right person in HR rather than on demonstrating creativity and true ambition.
Thanks, Mike! I appreciate your comment very much.
Awesome post, Patricia! Love the quotes and you really expounded on Steve's with great insight. It is all about us, everyone of us. We are a team! Glad you are on mine! :)

Georgie Hunter R(S) 58089 - Those of us who were fortunate enough to be alive during Steve Jobs lifetime can clearly acknowledge that a "real visionary" is one who does fulfill his life's purpose, despite challenges, failures, obstacles, status, and wealth. Few are chosen; very few fulfill their purpose. Steve Jobs was one to be acknowledged and recognized.

Patricia Kennedy - it's wonderful to hear from you again! I'm glad to hear that you appreciated this blog post.
Steve Jobs was brilliant! Few people say they want to make a difference and do just that. But I have a feeling, Steve didn't have to say it, he just did it in the amount of time he had on earth. When you think about it, he was a Global Gift to the World!
Thank you for sharing this. He was such a genius for his time.--gone too soon. I really enjoyed his biography as well.

Mary Hutchison, SRES, ABR - It is such a pleasure to hear from you and hear your thoughts. You are an inspiration yourself!
Steve Jobs was a man who grew up fast marching to the beat of his own drum. He showed the world what not quitting can do for you and the impact it can have on others.
For whatever complaints some people had against him, Steve Jobs brought out creative skills and achievements by other people which only a few true leaders ever can -- and accomplishments they never imagined they could achieve.
That advice to keep looking for what you love as a life work is profoundly important. It may make for a difficult journey, but one which offers the deepest reward possible while navigating it to success.
Young people who seek advice about how to make their own best journey can never hope to receive better than what Steve Jobs told them: "Don't settle."
