Oh, thank you, Nina Hollander! When I think of Steve, I think of him as the Gatekeeper who changed the world in which we lived during OUR lifetime! He was so young and although he didn't live as long we wish he could have, he carried a lot of weight on his shoulders and influenced many people both professionally and personally. 

Wayne Martin - your wonderful comment reminded me of another great quote by Steve:

"Sometimes when life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith."

A sucessful culture in business is not just about the technology and the money - it's about the PEOPLE!

He starts his speech admitting he never graduated from College and this was the closest he ever got to a College Graduation.

It seems to me more people are spending a lot of money training their bodies and may be forgetting the mind needs to be trained too. Or searching the Internet for answers to questions without really living life to the fullest. I respect you for setting a prime example of doing exactly what you said is so important: "embracing ourselves, believing in people - makes life so much more rewarding." You were born to be a Montana gal!

Amen! You are right George Souto! and to think this brilliant young man was put up for adoption at birth. That little baby grew up to be a giant of man who as you say, learned to think "beyond the norm!" Come to think of it, it's a story that should be shared by Pro Life.

Lottie Kendall - Truly, I appreciate your wisdom and friendship. I think you make a good point. When young adults are just starting out, it's very important for them to emulate someone they admire, thinking they will get the same results. Many are disappointed...

The older we get, the wiser and more sensible most people become. I'm always in awe with people like Steve Jobs who live just long enough to make the biggest impact on other people's lives. In hindsight, for better or worse, at different stages of his life, his destiny was fulfilled. 

Anna Banana Kruchten Broker/Owner, CRB, CRS - For a man who lived such a short life, who wasn't even wanted at birth by his birth mother, he made a significant difference in how we do business and how to live our lives using computers and Apple products today to make life easier and better for all! He certainly wasn't perfect, and his challenges were many, but he stayed focused on what he had to do and made a difference. If truth be told, he maximized his time on earth greater than other companies that stayed in the business for a long time, i.e., Sears, K-Mart, World Com, etc.

Steve Jobs opened up a new world of creativity beyond the paintbrush of an Artist! His mind was in control of his actions that became a phenomenal success. Failures were many; he never gave up. When we look back at our lives, we can think how lucky we were to have lived in a time of technology and knowledge not afforded to the many generations that came before us.

I remember the Radio Shack TRS80! What fun memories! Oh, yes, the cost of computers were so expensive back then!!! Come to think of it, without Amazon or Best Buy, I don't think many consumers shopped and compared or had any inkling about whether or not they were getting a good deal. I just remember from what I learned from my mother. If the store put something on sale, you were getting a deal. And if the store offered a Midnight Blue Light Sale - she was there at midnight! LOL

Things sure have changed a lot in our lifetime! 

Mike Frazier - Talk about "ambition and a willingness to work hard," he championed that idea! I loved the story about how Steve Jobs cold called Bill Hewlett at HP for parts and landed up with an Internship! Personally, I think the Recruiting World has made it more difficult than it should be for people to get jobs. Today, the focus is more on getting the perfect resume to the right person in HR rather than on demonstrating creativity and true ambition.

Steve Jobs was brilliant! Few people say they want to make a difference and do just that. But I have a feeling, Steve didn't have to say it, he just did it in the amount of time he had on earth. When you think about it, he was a Global Gift to the World!
